How is weather travelling to Hawaii?

We went in March and the first two days out of Los Angeles were kind of cool, but when the sun was out, plenty of people found it comfortable enough to lay in the sun. It was a bit warmer on the return trip.

I think that's pretty consistent for that part of the Pacific Ocean regardless of the time of year.

Don't expect real Hawaii weather until you are a day or two from the islands.

I agree with Chris. We went in December. It was chilly the first two days out and the last two days back. We were told this is normal all year. The cruise was wonderful! Just bring a jacket and a sweater and you will have a grand time!:)

For the first two or so days out of LA and for the last three days back to LA the seas are usually very rough, so be prepared for that.

There's no reason why this should be so. We sailed westbound in December from Ensenada and the seas were very rough. 2 years later, also in December, we sailed eastbound from Hilo to Ensenada and the ocean was like glass the entire way.

The Pacific Ocean is big with complex currents and distant storms that create swells. The way the seas were yesterday will have little bearing on the the way they will be tomorrow.

Yes, this can all vary by voyage, but on the most part expect the seas to be rough out of Los Angeles the first couple of days and the temperature to be on the cooler side. That seems to be the norm but as the last poster said you might get lucky on your particular voyage.

In terms of when to go, I would recommend finding a date that works best for you go with that.

We were on the cruise in late March and really enjoyed the cruise, with the nice mixture of sea days and days in port.
