22 year old missing from the Voyager of the seas

Recommended Posts

Hi ,this post is from july 2006 ,but still want to tell you that it s not rue at all.I ve worked for RCCL,and you can be transfer anytime during a contract .Just watch your drink when you on board and never trust anyone ,guests or crewmembers. Some people come on a cruise just to get drunk every night ,and families are surprised when they go overboard. But some of the stories are really weird I must admit.Brimble,Smith,Lyndsay etc.........

I think it's ridiculous for anyone to assume that foul play is somehow involved here. It seems to me the majority of the time these types of incidents happen it's usually the passengers irresponsible behavior which is the cause, such as drugs/alcohol etc. How anyone can jump to the conclusion that a crew member is involved or a crime has been committed is bizarre. Sounds like a lot of paranoid talk to me.

Thanks for agreeing with me Doug! As I said before I asked the same questions when George went missing. AND, we still don't know what happened to Marilyn or Amy (and George). We used to feel safe on a RCI ship, however now we will do things in pairs

To be honest I'm worrying about the fact that I convinced my family to book a RCI cruise to celebrate our parents anniversary.

Then you had better never come to NYC, people go missing here all the time.

Wake up people! This can and does happened anywhere.

Barbara, this thread is very old and we have had this discussion over and over. We live in Phoenix and experience the same as you do! However you really cannot compare a visit to NYC or AZ with a cruise, now can you????

I did not notice the original date.

I should think we should because a ship is a of the world, we are not safer there than anywhere. But I guess so people let their guard down on a cruise, and they should not. Even in Disneyland ( substitue any theme park) people go missing. But I guess growing up in NYC, I learned to be always aware of what is around me.

I will be in Vegas next week, and I am sure even stranger things happen there. So I may just need to have eyes in the back of my head:eek:

Barbara, I agree we are not necessarily safer. However traveling with 3,000 compared to hundreds of thousands in a big city can actually give some of the passengers a false sense of security, don't you think?

I was in Vegas for the first time 2 weeks ago...took my 14 yr old nephew and his 14 yr old friend to a karate tournament..just the 3 of us....we walked down the entire length of the Strip on a Saturday night...took a while! ;) Anyway, we were there from about 7:30 p.m. till about 11:00 p.m. and rode the monorail back to our hotel at around 11:15...never felt unsafe at any time because there were so many people around (and I had 2 black belts with me ;) :D, even if they are only 14!). No kidding, though...I didn't ever feel uneasy, but again, I kept my eyes open and we didn't venture too far up on the north end of the Strip. It's my understanding that you need to steer clear of some areas on the northern end. And, of course, the later you're out, the more unruly the crowds tend to get.

Be ready to see people passing out "call girl" cards by the handful, and tons of them are thrown down as litter...provocative photos which made my nephew's eyes really big!

Agree with you 100% Phoenix...it's very easy to get that false sense of security..and I stressed to my niece and nephew on our August cruise that you can't let your guard down just because you're in a more controlled environment. 3,000 passengers on a ship is still larger than the population of a lot of our towns in Arkansas!

Have a great evening.

Thanks, I have been to Vegas a few times. Last year our convention ended as NASCAR week and spring break began, time to run for the hills!:p

Part of the problem is the age of most of those who think the world is their oyster and they are invincible. I know when I was in my late teens I spent many a night in "The Village" and never once thought about the dangers.

just visit Las Vegas where they love to show up. At the Luxor 10 years ago, a female jumped from the top floor smashing a buffet table. The Stratosphere to Las Vegas BLvd is another favorite. They climb the high fences to do it. Hoover Dam too.

I have to disagree on this one about the jumper in the Luxor. Having lived in Vegas/Henderson almost 11 years until 2005, we frequented the Luxor weekly. I could not even count the number of times we have eaten in that buffet. It was our favorite strip hotel to gamble in. Since we moved, we stayed there last year.

The buffet is underground in the very basement of the casino. It always has been. There is no possible way this person, or any other, smashed a buffet table jumping from the highest hallway in that hotel. They might smash a slot machine or a gaming table maybe.??
