navywife06 Posted July 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2006 I was happy that I took the advice of those posting on this site and emailed the casino director for the Elation to introduce myself, say when we would be sailing, etc. He emailed back and said to say hello to him when I boarded and he would have a gift for me...Does anyone have a guess as to what it might be? I don't want to get jazzed about a lanyard, although they are great. Thanks

navywife06 Posted July 30, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted July 30, 2006 I went to oceanplayers.com and they had a list of the ships and I clicked on mine and it guided me along the way. Very easy. Nice, welcoming message from the director. Good luck

She decorated our cabin with Bon Voyage decorations and we had a very nice fruit basket. Hope you have a great cruise. popcorngal Posted July 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2006 I emailed the Casino Manager on the Miracle, and received an OPC tote bag. He said to look him up and I finally did the last night out. He was very cordial.

KAWS Posted July 30, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 30, 2006 Thanks for the info. Just emailed the Miracle host and asked our casino questions so hopefully we'll hear back. Great to have that "personal" connection. Kim
navywife06 Posted July 30, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted July 30, 2006 The manager on the Elation got back to me the next day. It was a long, very nice, detailed email. My husband loves to donate to the casino, so for me, I thought it would be a good idea to say hello. I'm glad it helped others!

Greektreats Posted July 30, 2006 #13 Share Posted July 30, 2006 Contact the ship's casino host through the Ocean Players Club website. Last week on the Pride, Tatjana (casino host) took VERY good care of us, including tote bags filled with goodies, cabin decorations, and fruit and wine basket in our cabin! Of course, we left a nice donation at the craps table!
Elaine515 Posted July 30, 2006 #14 Share Posted July 30, 2006 . I agree... just drop them a quick note... I did that for my July 10th Fascination sailing and Daniella emailed me back almost immediately. I introduced myself once on-board and she was just as nice as she could be. Upon arriving in our cabin, we had the Bon Voyage decorations, a huge basket filled with cookies, fruit, bottle of wine and lots of other things. Then on the last night of the cruise (now I have to be fair and tell you that both my husband & I and my parents spent lots of time in the casino) Daniella handed my parents, my husband and myself a really nice Ocean Players Club blue bag filled with more key chains and a nice collared shirt with the OPC logo on it, a mug, a teeshirt, a lanyard and I can't recall what else but it was very nice... So, yes, definitely write and then make sure you stop by and say hello... Gloryhound65 Posted July 30, 2006 #15 Share Posted July 30, 2006 This would be a great place to mention this: The casino dealers get paid ten dollars a day by Carnival, and all the rest of their income is tips. Tips are pooled every day and divided evenly among the dealers who worked that day. I found that the dealers in the casino on the ship I cruised on (Glory, June 3rd Western cruise) were extremely nice, very good, and it was good to get to know some of them a little. Meeting them and getting to know them a bit was about half the fun of being in the casino. I've kept in touch with a few of them since the cruise as the ship is home ported near where I live, and sometimes I'm at the right place at the right time during their few hours of "shore leave" on Saturdays during turnaround. I visit the usual crew hangout, an internet cafe/restaurant. The food is good, too, and it's as good a place as any for me to grab lunch, so why not? I personally will always tip them well even if I'm not winning. You may wish to consider doing the same. Chris
JGB Posted July 30, 2006 #16 Share Posted July 30, 2006 I always TIP good service. Winning or loosing does not enter into it for me. I even TIP the slot techs. John
auntiecruiser Posted July 31, 2006 #17 Share Posted July 31, 2006 How much in advance of your trips do you contact the casino host? I am not sailing until January. If I have a players club card from a past cruise adn different ship, can I use it for the new cruise and ship? Thanks for any info!!

RjayB Posted July 31, 2006 #21 Share Posted July 31, 2006 Oh noes! Not more tip confusion?? I'm not one to spend much time in the casino's, but I do make a small donation each day. How much are you supposed to tip the casino dealers/workers?
JGB Posted July 31, 2006 #22 Share Posted July 31, 2006 I put up a bet for the dealer every now and then nothing predictable. If the slot tech gives me fast effcient service I give him a couple of bucks. It is more the thought than the amount of tip. John
G&L in WPG Posted July 31, 2006 #23 Share Posted July 31, 2006 I will be on the Inspiration in Oct. is it too soon to e-mail them, and what should I say in my e-mail? I just emailed them to introduce myself (follow the contact us link at oceanplayersclub.com). I mentioned when we were sailing, and that I was looking forward to joining the OPC, and playing slots and Black Jack. I'm gonna play anyway, so I might as well get any available perks..... pagits Posted July 31, 2006 #24 Share Posted July 31, 2006 I did contacted the Casino manager on the Victory when I sailed in March. We received a bottle of champagne, our room was decorated to the max, 8 drink coupons, and two key chains. I went to the casino to thank her, which she really appreciated. She said people seldom thank her which I found interesting. From that point on each time she saw me in the casino she offered me comp drinks. Very nice
