2kruzers Posted July 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2006 We are on Legend with stop in Tortola from 7am-2pm and trying to plan day. Is there tendering in Tortola? Also, has anyone taken the 4x4 safari excursion offered through Carnival?
KruznKel Posted July 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2006 I don't have answers to your questions.. I am sure others will.. but you may want to try the port of call boards to see if they have them there :) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
dexter Posted July 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2006 There is a dock at Tortola and you won't need to tender. Never been there on a Carnival ship...went on Zuiderdam, but I'm sure Carnival uses the dock also. When we went there we were on the edge of hurricane Frances and didn't do any excursions. It rained the whole time and many of the local folks had evacuated to higher ground.
ooulio Posted July 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2006 We went to Tortola this past Feb on Carnival Liberty. There is a dock. Sorry we didn't do the jeep tour. It was a beautiful day there .
Starz723 Posted July 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2006 Yes indeed there is a dock. Just walk right off. Ive been on the Carnival Legend 2 times with a stop in Tortola. I went the Virgin Gorda both times while in Tortola. The Baths are not to be missed. They are spectacular and have wonderful snorkeling.
Crazy about cruising Posted July 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2006 I did the Safari tour in Tortola last year. It was lots of fun. The views we saw were awesome. As part of the tour we also went to a private beach. It was absolutely beautiful.

gizmo Posted August 1, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 1, 2006 There is a dock but tendering depends on how many ships are in port that day. There have been ships that had to tender. Don't hold me to this, but the dock might accomondate 2 ships. Check cruisecal for the number of ships in port the day you will be there.
Pyrate13 Posted August 1, 2006 #9 Share Posted August 1, 2006 Gizmo is correct, the dock will handle two ships. If there are more than that in port someone will need to tender.

Marge, Did you go on your own (via ferry) book an excursion with an outside tour operator or with the cruise line? I have to be back on board by 3:00 pm. I wanted to book with Patouche but will need 10 more people to do so. I was also contemplating the ferry but have been hearing that it is not so reliable. If my only choice is to book with the cruise line and deal with a the crowds of people or should I just spend my day relaxing on a beach in Tortola?
