Rare sonomaphil Posted August 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2006 Just saw this at the Princess site for May 2008 aboard the Dawn. Has anyone done one of these Alaska samplers? It's not offered in 2007. "Alaska Sampler - Vancouver to Seattle This itinerary features a 4-day cruise with 3 ports of call, including visits to Vancouver, Ketchikan and Seattle." Day Port Arrival Departure 1 Vancouver, British Columbia 5:30 PM 2 At Sea 3 Ketchikan, Alaska 8:00 AM 5:00 PM 4 At Sea 5 Seattle, Washington 7:00 AM
Rare Cruise Junky Posted August 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2006 We've done that, but it was Vancouver to Vancouver, not to Seattle. It was great. You certainly don't see much of Alaska, Ketchikan is on the lowest tip of Alaska, you couldn't really tell you'd left BC. But it was a nice little trip and they're usually quite cheap. Rare sonomaphil Posted August 2, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted August 2, 2006 Balcony is going for $599 right now. Not a bad quick get away.
MichTraveler Posted August 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2006 This is a little twist on the coastal re-positioning cruises they do each May and Sept to get the ships to/from Alaska. It is so difficult getting of the ship after 7 or 10 days, so after 4 days I might cry. For some, this is an easier way to gain Elite status with Princess as they count number of cruises, not number of nights. I've cruised Alaska end of May multiple times and loved that time of the year.
