CRUISER2B Posted August 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2006 I am trying to find more information about repositioning cruises thru the Panama Canal. I have read that these can be cheaper than booking a traditional cruise. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
98Charlie Posted August 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2006 In searching for cruises, we find that the per diem cost of repostioning cruises is generally less than traditional round trip cruises. One of the reasons is the cost of air. We did a repo earlier this year, Tampa to San Juan, and were able to find open jaw flights that were pretty inexpensive. One ways to Tampa and from San Juan would have cost almost as much as the cabin:eek: As far as repositionings through the canal, we haven't researched them recently. Use some of the major online travel search engines. You'll be able to find out which ships are going, when and at what price. Charlie
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 6, 2006 Repositioning cruises that involve areas such as the trans-atlantic crossings save considerable dollars per diem. They provide lots of sea days which provide an excellent opportunity to relax and to take advantage of the ship. Just look on line at those cruise lines that you are interested in to see what they offer. Many do not involve the Panama Canal though.
