Canadians booking car rentals in Hawaii

have you been able to waive the additional insurance? My insurance company is telling me that they only cover the continental US (so that excludes Hawaii).

 

any thoughts on how we can get around the extra charge?

I don't know what company you're with, but mine (State Farm) covers me anywhere in the U.S., including Hawaii. I don't see why they wouldn't cover Hawaii. Maybe you're getting bad information from someone in the office?
