Car Rental Agencies in or very near the Port of Norfolk?

Greetings:

 

We're doing a repo cruise into Norfolk, April 2007. Does anyone have information on car rental agencies in or very near the Port of Norfolk? An Avis rep told us they have a downtown location about 1 mile away and will send a shuttle. Others we've looked at are 7 to 8 miles away or are located at the airport. Any thoughts or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you are flying into Norfolk, the cab fare from the airport isn't much compared to NY. Unless you need a rental for any special reason I would skip it. Norfolk doesn't have as many rental places all over and the ones they do, would usually be at the airport or the beach.

Thanks for posting your response. We will be cruising into Norfolk from San Juan on a one-way repositioning cruise. We are thinking about driving back to New York.

Enterprise should operate a rental service and will bring your car to you at the port. Waterside in Norfolk is nice to walk around and the MacArthur mall...check it out. Used to live there:) .
