owner's suite versus penthouse

What is the difference between an owner's suite and a penthouse suite?

This terminology is used in different ways depending on the cruise line. For example, on many cruise lines the Penthouse Suite is the largest of the suites but on some cruise lines it is the Owner's Suite that is the largest one. So, the best bet is to read the information about the specific cruise line you are considering.

Thanks. They are described the same way on the Caribbean Princess. The only difference is that the owners suite is aft on the aloha deck.

The Tahitian and Pacific Princesses have owner suites, but no penthouse suites. According to the rep we spoke with, these are also the largest that Princess has to offer (mostly because Princess didn't build these). We always try for an OS when we're on these ships just because the decks are huge (not to mention the cabins). If you get a chance, check them out - they are worth every penny.

I am booked into an owners suite. I changed from a penthouse suite on the Riviera deck as I was concerned about the noise. I am wondering what it will be like though in the aft.
