Stanley Posted July 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2004 I'm am pretty ignorant to the workings of the boards. Can someone tell me what it means to "bump" one of these threads? I'm sure it is a way to get a particular thread so that it is listed sooner or something like that. Then again, I may be wrong.
Carlene Posted July 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Just a way of moving a thread to the top of the list even though you really have nothing else to say... Happy Cruising Carlene
duke052 Posted July 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2004 It is something you get after you hit your head on the bulk head door. **#@** preceeds it.
Stanley Posted July 8, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted July 8, 2004 Duke, LOVED your answer...... Carlene, thanks for your reply as well. What you told me is what I was thinking. I don't mind where the postings are. I guess some people just like to Bump de Bump.
wv4891 Posted July 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2004 It's something that Tuggers does, in violation of the Spirit of the XSNOBS. ;)
sasset Posted July 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2004 Actually, it's an action, that, if everyone did it, would assure that there was never a new post at the top of the page. Regards
eileen & jay Posted July 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2004 My fellow Californians certainly have a sense of humor tonight!:D
stomsf Posted July 8, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 8, 2004 The translation I've seen on this and other boards is "Bump Up My Post" :D
nealberk Posted July 8, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 8, 2004 And if you do it to every post in reverse order, you end up exactly where you were when you started (although you really increase your post count) :)
ElaineB2 Posted July 9, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 9, 2004 Could someone tell me how one "bumps" a thread? I thought this is something that the Administrator had to do. Now since I'm a member of XSNOBS, I would never ever consider "bumping" my thread to the top - but I do wish to be informed. Thankx. E
LovetheSea Posted July 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted July 9, 2004 I think it was a dance we did back in the Disco days :)
LovetheSea Posted July 9, 2004 #12 Share Posted July 9, 2004 You just type in the word "bump" in a reply, and send :)
nealberk Posted July 9, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 9, 2004 And that was a perfect example of a bump!
Cruise_More_Often Posted July 9, 2004 #14 Share Posted July 9, 2004 I've seen this stated elsewhere, but I have no idea why it's important.
Cruise_More_Often Posted July 9, 2004 #15 Share Posted July 9, 2004 Nealberk, is that why you have the "mega" cruiser under your name?
nealberk Posted July 13, 2004 #16 Share Posted July 13, 2004 That is actually a joke directed at our own beloved Newt (see the Newt Fan Clud for detail on this glorious individual). He wanted to be remembered for reaching "blue ribbon" status despite the fact that his count was decreased during the conversion. If he could be "blue ribbon" I figured I could be "mega blue ribbon"! I will change it back eventually.
