Lisbon Oceanarium

I live just outside Lisbon and we have been to the Oceanarium. We have driven there but I think it's pretty easy to get to from where the cruise ships dock.

One route is to take the metro (www.urbanrail.net/eu/lis/lisboa.htm). As you may know, the Oceanarium is located in the Park of Nations which is the ORIENTE metro stop (on the red line). I'm not exactly sure where you will dock, but I think it will be close to either Cais do Sodre or Terreiro do Paco, so it may be a few transfers to get there.

Another option is a taxi which is fairly cheap in Lisbon. I think a taxi might take 20 minutes at the most.

The Oceanarium website (www.oceanario.pt) outlines some of the options for getting there plus the current prices (10.50 euro/adult).

The Oceanarium itself is not real big, I think you could easily get through it in two hours. The Park of Nations itself is kind of a neat area to walk around. Unfortunately it has not been kept up very well and the drought in 2004/2005 didn't help as there are a lot of water exhibits. Having said that, there are a lot of restaurants around there. There is also a science museum (which I have not been in) and a cable car that gives a nice view of the area. The website which gives a little more information is: http://www.parquedasnacoes.pt/touristguide/

I hope you have a great trip:)

#Thanks for the helpful information. If we use the cable car is it nearer to the ship or further away from the oceanarium. Could we go by taxi to the oceanarium and then get the cable car and then walk back to the ship? Thanks for any further help.:):):):):)
