Which float plane company does X use in Ketchican?

Can't answer your question directly, but suggest you consider booking directly with Island Wings or Carlin Air. You may want to post on the Alaska port of call board-one of the best on CC.

The excursion is spectacular!

We were on the Infinity and we booked a floatplane to Misty Fjords through Celebrity. They used Taquan Air for our excursion and it was a highlight of our trip. Many people on these boards recommend private companies, but we chose to use Celebrity because of our concerns over it being a flight. Enjoy your cruise!

I used Seawind Aviationa and was thoroughly pleased. Steve and Leslie Kamm are outstanding. Phone # is 1-877-225-1203. They pick u up at the rain gauge and bring you back. It was a true high light on our trip three weeks ago.

It appears that X is offering two flight seeing trips (not including the float & boat) to Misty Fjords. Of the two excursions, one float plane looks much larger than the other. I have read that some larger planes have isle seats. What size plane were you on? How much time did you spend on the water?

We have booked all of our other tours with X and leaning towrds them with this one due to the problems the Infinity has been experiencing. Some float plane co's have a 14 day cancellation policy. Seems a little too risky at this point.

On our trip, Sitka and Ketchican were reversed, therefore Leslie changed our flight to Friday vs Tuesday. They have a 24 hour cancellation policy and will not charge you until you fly. Also, you save $ booking direct vs going thru X.

FireCapt9: We booked the flight through X and the company they use is Taquan Air. Taquan Air only uses 6 passenger DeHavilland Beavers. (I believe the other company X uses is Promec Air and they use some 10 passenger planes too.) The Taquan Air website is: http://www.taguanair.com. Our flight lasted 65 minutes and we spent about 10 minutes on the water for a total of 75 minutes. We were able to get out of the plane and stand on the side to take pictures. Everybody has a window seat (3 rows of 2 seats next to each other) and use of headsets that are noise cancelling. You listen to a narrated CD during the flight. This was a wonderful experience & I definitely recommend this excursion.

Many people on these boards recommend private companies for this excursion, but we were too "chicken" to book them because it was a flight. It worked out well for us because the Infinity switched the times in Ketchikan from AM to 2PM and that would have created another problem if we booked it privately. Hope you have better luck with the Infinity then we did...everything that could go wrong, went wrong!

Enjoy yor cruise.
