Cruisercathy...I noticed your post concerning your two slight disappointments. Although there is no formal omelette station, I believe that all you have to do is ask the crew member behind the counter at breakfast and they will be happy to cook an omelette to your requirements to order.

Free icecream can be obtained each day from one side of the buffet between 3.30pm and 4.30 pm.

Have a great cruise!

I was on the Crown and you definitely go to the place where you can see cooks give your order to one of the workers he will give you a slip of paper witih the omelet order, you can then finish getting the rest of your items and then go back for your omelet. No waiting on line. It's a great system so enjoy your omelets.

Pink panther-thanks for the live posting! Did you make a standing reservation with anytime dining? Interesting about when you had your 40 minute wait on formal night...did you have reservations then or just walk up?

Also curious, did you book a oceanview or get upgraded to that? Enjoy your cruise! Thanks again for your fun live posts! :)

Hello PP!! Thanks for continuing to post the live thread. I hope you are enjoying your trip

Can you please tell us if they have Jackpot Party, as well as Winning Streak slot machines on board? We'll be on the 9-3 sailing.

Thanks and have a great time

Thanks Pink Panther and Cool Cruiser for your information...

There will be four of us traveling.. I was just going to reserve the balcony room for my son and his GF (maybe by then Fiance') .. we have a mini suite. It will be their first cruise ,also, so I was just trying to get them the best room (an economical--since I'm buying) balcony room possible. I had heard that the rooms on Caribe deck have the largest balconies.. true or are they all the same. My biggest concern is not to book them in a balcony with an obstructed view. Have you heard about the cost of the "proposals" on the MUTS? He is thinking of popping the question to her while on this cruise... Ahhh I love all the drama of young love :D

Cool Cruiser, would you suggest not even bringing a laptop if there is one to use in the internet cafe' and it all costs the same? We just check our email and/reply to it.

Thanks again

I believe it's $700 for the very public proposal. We saw a passenger propose on the Crown at the pool party night. The proposal can be seen on the MUTS screen, I think. I'm not sure what else is included in the proposal package. They were given flowers & champagne.

Just left the casino, things have calmed down quite a bit which is obviously good.

As to everything that happened tonight, I'm hoping that it was a prank, and that is my suspicion. I'm guessing that over the next day the Captain and his staff will investigate further.

For those who will be cruising in the future or near-future, there's nothing to fear. The staff and crew are amazing and I continue to be amazed as each day goes by. :D

I was just wondering if any information was ever released as to what happened....

Thanks, and looking forward to more details of your cruise!

Hope everything is Ok on the Crown. Thanks for posting Pink Panther.

On our cruise there was a small sign for omelets made to order in the Horizon Court. It was next to where they have the ready made eggs and ready made omelets. They made me an egg white omelet! Just ask the waiter behind the counter.

Good luck with your cruise.

Hi Pink,

We're going on the 9/3 trip. Wondered if they gave you a break down of "dress codes" for the nights? Even though we are a different intinerary, the format should be the same. 2 formal nights? Then what? Could you also ask how much it would be to rent a tux on board? Thanks for the posts. Will try to do the same thing when I'm on board.

You can rent a tux onboard, I'm sure, but a suit or navy blazer and khakis will do. Other nights a polo shirt and khakis are just fine. Have a great cruise. Call 1-800 Princess for the details of preordering, if you want a tux. You can rent the shoes, too.

The Man Overbaord was a prank......but all ship activities were cancelled and we had to stay in our staterooms....

Thanks for the info on the omelet station.....

As for the ice cream my kids enjoy ice cream all day and the soft serve kind...that is what they are missing here unless you want to pay for it. Not ruining our cruisse though..

Dress. Codes.........2 formal nights...and smart casual....dockers and collared shirt for me....there is an island night so bring n island shirt/outfit if you would like.

We had icky weather in Ocho Rios....very cloudy in the AM and a horrible storm in the PM but it did stop raining for sail away...The deck party is going on as I type...

Gotta go...

Today we visited the island of Grand Cayman, and it is very beautiful. Has a nice mixture of Caribbean charm with a touch of European chic. We went snorkeling with Captain Marvin’s, first to a reef about a 20 minute boat ride away. Saw hundreds of fish, lots better than the snorkeling on Grand Turk. After the reef, we went to Stingray City, which is a sandbar not to far away from the first stop.

Swimming with the stingrays was amazing, they are very beautiful creatures. We were able to hold them and give them kisses, and our tour guide, Chester, even had one give us a back massage. We took a later tour, which left at 11, and although we didn’t get to do much shopping afterwards, it was very nice since there were only 6 people on our trip, BF and I, and a family of four.

I wish we could spend a full day on Grand Cayman; I had such an amazing time that I’m going to have to go back – soon!

Tomorrow we have a day at sea, en route to Port Canaveral. No excursions planned there, we’ll probably just head to the beach or wander around Cocoa Village.

Having an absolutely wonderful time and am dreading the day when we have to disembark. At dinner today, I overheard someone from another table saying, “Out of many cruises, this is the smoothest nicest ship I’ve ever been on.”

I feel the same way!

As to everything that happened the other night with the “man overboard,” we haven’t heard anything official, but scuttlebutt (aka, rumor has it – I was in the Navy, still can’t break the lingo) is that a young kid – 16 or 17 – yelled out “man overboard” and someone heard and called it in. I’m guessing that if this is true the kid did it as a joke or something.

Chris – my camera worked out GREAT! I took a ton of pictures in Grand Turk, and a ton more today. The only thing to remember is to occasionally clean off the lens area to make sure there is not too much water or debris on it, I had a few specs of sand around the area and it showed up in the pictures. Not that big of a deal though. Out of all the electronics I’ve bought in the past few years, I have to say that this is probably one of the best investments I’ve made.

MandieCandie – We booked an Oceanview category FF and we got bumped up to a Category E or D, I’m not exactly sure right now. Our room is perfectly located, close to the dining rooms, one floor up from the tenders/ramp for disembarkations, etc.

Rolando – I will be sure to check out your questions about the slots – BF is in the casino now! It’s lots of fun there and I’ve been trying my luck at the penny and nickel machines.

Newbie – the Caribe deck has the largest balconies I believe, they are half covered, half uncovered if I am correct. Next time we’ll definitely book a balcony if it is cost efficient for us!

As for questions about bringing laptops – If you have one BRING ONE! As I post this, people are grumbling about how they can’t get to the internet even though they keep swiping their cards, someone even said the timer is going but they can’t access anything. This isn’t the first time that there have been problems, but I’m on my laptop and I’m doing fine – except for the slow speeds!

Time to make sure BF isn’t spending all his money! Thanks for all your positive feedback, and cheers until next time!

Thanks for the updates, please keep them coming. It really is a relief to hear such glowing reports on the Crown, some of the recent reviews have been negative but of course it's hard to please everybody. How has the evening entertainment been ?? Has the ship been lively in the evenings or does it slow down early?? Have you been to Skywalkers?? As you can see, we're hanging on all the details. Maybe we'll cross paths on Friday at the pier.

Pink, did you avail yourself to any of the Ceramics at Sea classes?

I will be on the Nov. 4 sailing with a group of 14.

I was able to get a tour of the ship August 16 by a Princess rep. while the ship was in port in Red Hook.

If anyone would like to see pictures of the ship - take a look, just cut and paste this in your browser:

Did you ever learn if the incident with people overboard was for real or a prank? There has been nothing in the news on TV or Radio about it up here in New York. Thanks for your daily reports. Enjoy reading them. Enjoy the rest of your cruise and hope the weather stays good for the rest of your trip.

I hope it is Marek (from Poland). I met him on the Star Princess and he worked the Cigar Bar on that ship. He wrote to me a few weeks ago saying he was now on the Crown, and I'm assuming he has the same post (but I guess we all know what happens when we assume.... ). I suppose as a bartender he can be given any variety of positions....... Would love to know for sure.

Rolando

PS.....I also believe one of my favorite Head Waiters (Godwin from India) is also aboard the Crown. Can someone please confirm?

Thanks

Rolando
