mrsbojamp Posted July 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2004 Can anyone offer advice as to how much one should tip for spa services? I'm always unsure, and usually too embarrassed to ask anyone! Thanks for your help, fellow cruisers!
cnmiranda Posted July 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2004 Personally I tip 15-20%. I think that's the norm?
srphnx Posted July 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2004 Generally the gratuity is already included in spa services on board.
mrsbojamp Posted July 8, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted July 8, 2004 Last summer I was on a Carnival ship and, if I remember correctly, I had to fill in the gratuity on the charge slip. I usually have stayed in the 15-20% range, but wasn't sure if that was appropriate.
Princess Di Posted July 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2004 On Princess Ships, using the Steiners Spa, there is NO TIP INCLUDED. It is the pax discretion. I like to tip in cash and use the currency of the country (AUD in Oz, NZD in NZ). On the Caribbean Princess as well as the Sapphire Princess, the Spa Operation has been turned over to Princess in-house, using Phytomer Products. :D In these Lotus Spas (only SA and CB currently), the 15% gratuity is automatically added onto the rate of the Treatment; however, it is easily adjusted by increasing, decreasing, or omitting completely if you hated the treatment that much.
cruiselifers Posted July 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2004 I usually tip about $20 for a massage, which is about 20%. If it is not that great I tip less... Usually I am very happy with it though. You can put it on your card. Generally I try to bring cash for the tip.
Globaliser Posted July 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2004 What? You pay those prices and then you have to tip as well? I'm glad now that I steer well clear of those spas ...
