TravelJunkie1 Posted August 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2006 Help please!!! Need advice for one night in Newark area. Would it be better to stay near Newark airport or stay in Jersey City? Also, would the hotels in Jersey City offer free shuttle from airport or is that too far? Would the Jersey Gardens outlet mall be close? I'm going to try Priceline or Hotwire to get a decent place for around $100. if possible.
megr1125 Posted August 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2006 No Jersey City hotels have free shuttles from EWR to the best of my knowledge. The Courtyard, residence inn, country inn and extended stay america at exit 13A on the nJ turnpike are about 2 miles from EWR and 1/10th of a mile from Jersey gardens...actually it is just across the street. cab to cape liberty is $40. We stayed at the courtyard in may for our EOS to bermuda.....i think it was 85$$ but the rates can vary a lot. there is a ruby tuesday restaurant near these 4 hotels. some say jersey gardens is a dump....not true....it is outlets and i think it is nicer than the mall in which i work, about an hour south! lol the best western offers a cruise n park rate...check out http://www.parksleepfly.com i don't really like that place but many people stay there....others prefer the jersey city area for its proximity to NYC. rates there tend to be higher...many do not like the EWR area. the 4 hotels i mentioned-u have stayed in 3 of them and been in the 4th [extended stay-to look around]. i prefer these to other EWR locations as they are easier to get into and out of. there is a decent grocery store 3 or 4 miles away....easy to get to....traffic can be a little hectic, but it is not in a bad area..... HTH if you have other ???s feel free to email me cruisermeg@hotmail.com put cruise critic or something similar in the subject!
