katmai Posted August 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2006 I will be at Canada place on 9/24/2006. I noticed from port of Vancouver website that 5 ships will be at Canada place on that day due to this busy re-position time. However, Canada place only has three berths. What will happen to the other two ships? Tender? For the embarkation/disembarkation for the whole ship? That could be nasty, isn't it? Have anyone experienced tendering at Vancouver Canada place for the embarkation process?

jerhardt Posted August 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2006 Canada Place can hold up to 5 ships (smaller class) - 4 of the larger class. I was at Canada Place in May when 4 large ships were berthed at her. I suspect that a couple will be leaving around 1pm to accomodate the amount of people at the cruise ship terminal that day. I too will be leaving that day as well.
grouchy Posted August 21, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2006 They stagger departure times, with some ships leaving around dinner time. You can see them leaving with all the lights on and a setting sun.
vickie_bernie Posted September 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2006 Canada Place can accommodate five smaller ships, however I do know that on that day one ship is sailing out late at night as a friend is sailing on it. No tendering done here, would take way too long. Plus there is another pier (Ballayntine Pier) about two miles east. thanks
