Has anyone used Portcompass in Rome

We will be in Rome during our cruise on Splendour from 19th June. As ther are only 2 of us it is too expensive to book a private driver and we have had no luck in putting a group together through this and other boards.

We have been in contact with Portcompass who have a group of 20 in one family who are willing to share their tour with us. The itinerary is very comprehensive and the cost would be $109 each.

Does anyone have experience of tours with this company in Italy? Their website looks good but I know that on the day it is down to the driver to make or break the excursion.

I was ready to book with them when I discovered that wanted to be paid in full before the cruise. I would not be comfortable doing that, we have cruise cancellation insurance becuase an emergency might cause us to cancel. They had no cancellation policy either- you lost your money if you did not take the cruise. There are plenty of other companies with better cancellation policies that don't expect to be paid in full ahead of time.

I have now been told that the family have changed their minds and no longer want to share with us.
