How do you find out about repositioning cruises?

I hear about them, and occasionally come across the one-way cruises while searching the cruises on Princess' site, but is there one place where you can see which ships are moving to where and when?

Usually on the back of the Princess Brochure it will show the different ships and where they will be sailing to in a particular month. It will say ex: Crowm Princess Oct 27 8 days NY to San Juan.

Most repo cruise are done during late Spring and early Fall, when the cruise lines change regions. Example would be in the Spring when ships are moved from the Caribbean or Mexico to Alaska or Europe.

 

The best place is to look on the cruise lines web sites with dates during that time of year or ask you TA that you are interested in reposition cruises.

 

Repo cruise are great especially if you live near one of the ports on either end of the cruise.

We did a repo cruise in October, and really loved it... It was a full Panama Canal.. Started in Acapulco and ended in FFL.

That sounds wonderful. I would love to do the Panama Canal someday. Hopefully, I can talk my husband into taking a longer (than a week) cruise. Spring/Fall are hard, though, since he teaches high school.

You can get a list of Princess repositioning cruises simply by going to their online cruise finder (on their site). Plug in the month (Sept or May) and search for 0-5 days. They'll pop right up.

I noticed Princess has an unusual one going one way between Puerto Rico and Manaus, Brazil. I guess technically not a repositioning cruise but a rather unusual itinerary anyway.

HI Repositions are very popular and quickly sell out just think of the cruise

season for the region ie Alaska is Summer so to get there the Ships have to be repositioned. We feel very lucky because the Sapphire Princess is to return back to the USA from Australia and we are on it Same the ship is repositioning from the USA via Asia to Aust for the Summer cruising season next month. If you are interested in Aussy I think Princess have 3 ships coming and going 2008. The Itinerary are brilliant.<img>

I find out about the repos from the emails from Princess and HAL. They offer some good specials on their emails. Something interesting I've noted however. We are booked for a Princess cruise in January. Now I get NO email offers. I don't find that coincidental. The upcoming cruise info must go into their email system.

Closer to your cruise, you should start getting offers again from Princess. They want you to think about booking your next cruise while onboard.

Thanks for that info, Cruisin' Chick. That will be good. I'm sure we'll do an onboard open booking. What they don't know is that I'm willing to do a quickie cruise before January if the offer was interesting. I'm not addicted!!

We are booked on the SUN Princess for the repo from Seattle to Sydney in September 2007. This will be our first repo cruise but we spent 6 weeks in AU last year and loved it.

Wish we could do some of the 3 and 4 day repo's too.:D

we often do repositioning cruises. WE contact our local TA and she gets us ones that often arnt in brochures, we enjoy these more because often go to a variety of destinations :D
