Port side or starboard on Statendam!

laminar

Recommended Posts

Hi, i am about to book a cabin for next year and our TA asked me what side of the ship i wanted to be? She did not have an idea how the Australia/NZ ports were situated.

Any ideas what side is the best choice for scenery and less noise when docking.

Please advise.

Thanks

Yes port side (left) would be best for coastal scenery sailing from Milford Sound to Auckland.

Also, I would suggest that port side would be dockside in Dunedin, Christchurch, Tauranga, but not in Auckland, Melbourne or Sydney. (Sydney portside will give you a fantastic Opera House view)

Cant help with the other ports because our cruise on Diamond Princess didn't visit them.

Keep your fingers crossed for good weather in Milford, Dusky & Doubtful Sounds - it is fantastic scenic cruising.
