trvlmil Posted August 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2006 We arrived at Cape Liberty at 11am - check in was a breeze! Cabins were not ready until 1pm. Went to the Windjammer for lunch - good selection of food. Sun came out for sail away, stayed on deck 12 for the best viewing of going under the Verranzano Bridge. Carlos is the concierge and very helpful. We have second seating dining - dd had prime rib - dh steak - and i had the salmon. Everything was prepared just right and we enjoyed our first dinner. Haven't found any new bedding on deck 8 - but I will ask at guest relations what the status is. I signed up for cybercabin - it's slow but I can also pick up the wireless signal in my cabin as we are close to the iternet cafe. Going to the casino now.......... Any questions I will try my best to answer - can't promise to be as informative as RADIO with pictures but I will attempt to learn how to post photos. Ya Radio is a tough person to follow but we are on the Sept. 8th cruise (next 9 day) and are bursting at the seams for info. We are on Deck 9 , it would be a pleasant surprise to see some new bedding. Any info would be helpful. Thanks so much for the updates. Hopefully any tropical storms out there won't interfere with your cruise. Have a great time and keep us posted!!! Laura:)

meyer4two Posted August 26, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2006 We just got off the Explorer yesterday from Bermuda. Carlos, the concierge, is wonderful. He got our bus/ferry tickets, ice show tickets, etc., anything we wanted. The coffee in the concierge lounge is the best on the ship. Went there every a.m. for coffee. Free drinks at night aren't bad either. No new beds, but ours on Deck 8 wasn't too bad at all. A bartender in the Crown & Kettle said the EOS is going into drydock next May so that is probably when the ship will get all new beds. (unless they just replace the beds before drydock) Enjoy your cruise!
njcruisebunny Posted August 26, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2006 Meyer4two It sounds like you had a great cruise. What time did you get to Bayonne? Did you park your car or take a car service? We live near you and are going on the Explorer in a couple weeks. Any suggestions? We're Diamond members and enjoy the "perks" that come with the concierge club. Did they have any other perks? I know they don't have the repearters party or the M&M. We don't get the special diamond cocktail party either? Oh, well. What about the C&A gift they leave on the bed? What was it this time? Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. We got to Bayonne around 11 a.m. via car service. So much easier to have someone else drive you, let them deal with all the traffic. We're Diamond also & loved the concierge lounge, Carlos was supurb. The C&A gift was great, two leather picture frames & a sample of the Seattle's best coffee. We got the two free pictures to put in the frames. Used all the coupons except the free ice cream bars, just never got around to it. There was one cocktail party for C&A at the end of the cruise. Don't forget to get the white tags for leaving the ship. Our steward delivered yellow which was wrong so Carlos gave us the white ones & we were off the ship by 8:30, so easy. Boarding was also so easy, we were eating lunch at the buffet by 12:30. Even though we were on the ship by 11:30 and the rooms aren't ready till 1, all the doors were open so we put our carry on in the room & headed for the buffet. The whole cruise went so smooth, I'm ready to go again. Enjoy your cruise!

DPurcell58 Posted August 30, 2006 #13 Share Posted August 30, 2006 It's Denise, live on the Explorer too. Things are great, food wonderful, seated with SkyChief from our roll call, just by chance. M&M was Sun. afternoon, we had the largest enrollment ever on a ship they said. No new bedding on Deck 9, sofa bed is hard as a rock. Don't like the towel policy at the pool, have to return soaking towels (even from the rain on Sun. when we had to run from the pool ) in order to get new towels. Shows are ok, comedian was great. Very, very hot everywhere. Went to Portofino last night, wonderful. My son is loving the kids program. Brought liquor in our checked luggage, no problem. Last night was buffet and dancing at the pool. San Juan today, might just stay on the ship. Will try to get back on at end of the week. Hi to all my friends! I just happened to find the invitation when I was unpacking regarding the C&A party you asked about. The Crown & Anchor Society held a reception for Platinum & Diamond members at Dizzy's Jazz Lounge, Deck 14 at 11:30 a.m. till 12:15 p.m. On our cruise it was Thurs., we disembarked on Fri. Have a great time on your cruise.

DPurcell58 Posted September 1, 2006 #18 Share Posted September 1, 2006 Here again, still on the ship. We spent about 5 mins dropping our luggage off. Got there at 11":25 was on the ship by 12:30. Things are still great, Labadee was hot yest. Went into San Juan on Wed, found the Coach outlet store, bought a bag. Meet a few people from home. Everyone is nice. 1100 kids, but you'd never know it, they're not playing in the elevators or sitting on steps like last year. We're having some rain showers at the pool this afternoon, maybe we're heading into the storm back home. Don't know how tomorrow will be. Tonight is formal and midnight bufett. Will write more when we get home.

Scarlett's Mommy Posted September 2, 2006 #23 Share Posted September 2, 2006 I'm curious because my sister, Tish is on the 8th floor with her husband John and sons Michael and Phillip. It is raining and very windy here at home because of Ernesto. If you happen to have met Tish and John, please say hello for me. Kate:)
Hobie1976 Posted September 2, 2006 #24 Share Posted September 2, 2006 I am on the Explorer as well. Weather has been great....seas have been calm...have felt a little motion on and off since yesterday. Looks cloudy out there today... I have been very impressed with the staff as well as the quality of the food. Having read so many comments about the food...expected the worse and have been pleasantly suprised. Yesterday was our second formal night. Lobster and Prime Rib on the menu. Had the Lobster and it was delicious....actually had a second lobster tail..Our waiter - Neftali asked if I wanted a second one....no problem. The 1100 kids have been fairly well behaved. There has been some drinking among them. They seem to travel in large groups. Have found out that they get the alcohol in ports and then pour it into water bottles, etc....This was seen going on in St Thomas. The 1 am curfew seems to be enforced. I have heard complaints from some teens that they were doing absolutely nothing and were told they had to go to their rooms as it was past curfew!!! YEAH!!! Elevators at dinner and showtime are my biggest complaint. There has to be a better way!!!!! Well if there are any questions - I will try to answer-today is our last sea day Bayonne tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!
Scarlett's Mommy Posted September 2, 2006 #25 Share Posted September 2, 2006 Thank you for your reply. Still raining here in South Jersey, but the weather is suppose to be out of here by tomorrow. You should arrive in Bayonne rain free. Enjoy your last evening.
