dress code on dawn?

hi,

i know the Dawn is "resort casual" but of course this is open to interpretation :) anyways, i am going w/my family, most of whom have never cruised so they have a lot of questions. i have never done freestyle before. can you wear khaki type shorts and a button down shirt to dinner (for men)? i assume in the steakhouse, you would have to dress up a bit more? how about for my 16 mo old, can he get away w/a button down shirt and shorts? or are they very strict on the pants/skirts rule?

thanks, gina

Gina,

We were on the Dawn 6/20 and I saw a huge range of dress every night in the main dining and even in the speciality restaurants. All 10 of the restaurants are resort casual, even on "formal" night. Even though shorts were "not permitted" in the restaurants after 5 PM, some people pushed that and no one said anything.

My family the boys 5 & 10 years old wore button down shirts (casual shirt Friday type of button down, not a dress shirt type) from Target, khaki's and boat shoes. My husband was dressed the same. I wore a lot of Fresh Produce clothes (those beachy casual prints in beautiful summer shades of pinks, greens, blues, etc.) and brought some capris and twin sweater sets that I bought in Marshall's. All perfectly fine not too dressy not too casual.

The baby will look cute no matter what he wears so I wouldn't worry about him.

Have fun, it's a great ship.

Leenie

Generally same dress code in ALL resturants. The quide lines are pretty open but one rule they do enforce is no shorts or jeans in the resturants at night.

For men a colared shirt and Dockers is a base outfit. That said I have seen some remarkable "resort casual" on the Dawn including folks showing up for dinner in Basketball shorts
