superjerryw Posted September 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2006 You may be able to purchase an upgrade at the pier. If you mean a free upgrade, not likely.
cb at sea Posted September 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2006 It's unlikely, but it can happen. Just don't hold your breath waiting!!! Purchasing upgrades is becoming most difficult--most of the ships are sailing full, and it's hard to buy something they don't have!

traveling1969 Posted September 2, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2006 Hi, Once you receive your documents is that last opportunity to receive an upgrade...is it unusual to get a upgrade at check-in? Thanks We received our cruise documents and my wife noticed that our emergency contact number was incorrect. She went online to try to correct it and when she pulled up the reservation she noticed that our cabin number had changed. We were now booked in a jr suite (we were in a balcony cabin before the upgrade)and a hump suite at that. We called RCCL to ask if we would get new luggage tags and we were told that we could get blank ones at the port. The upgrade fairy never sleeps! huntedbear Posted September 2, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2006 We found out on our first cruise about our upgrade when we checked in at the pier. unfortunatly, our luggage tags were for the old cabin...but that got streightened out before sinner and the rest of the cruise was amazing!!! emeraldcity Posted September 2, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2006 We had the same experience as HuntedBear. When she handed me the boarding cards at the pier and told me my cabin number, I realized we'd just moved up a deck from oceanview to balcony. I took the cards quickly, before she changed her mind and worried about connecting with my luggage later.
Ottawa_cruise_man Posted September 2, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2006 unfortunatly, our luggage tags were for the old cabin...but that got streightened out before sinner I agree, it is a sin to send someone's luggage to the wrong cabin! hehe! Glad your cruise turned out to be amazing!

Actually we're on the south shore of Lake Ontario but we travel to Canada often; mostly Niagara Falls, Ottawa and Montreal. Let me know where to find your thread. Thanks. OOPS! Just found it through searches!

kbt2 Posted September 2, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 2, 2006 We were notified through email about a week before we sailed via email and told to print off form...I thought maybe a scam, so went to "my cruises" on RCI site and sure enough it matched up w/cabins. njoyndride Posted September 3, 2006 #13 Share Posted September 3, 2006 I took the cards quickly, before she changed her mind and worried about connecting with my luggage later. Did they deliver the luggage or do you have to go hunting at the previous assigned cabin?
