RSF Cruiser Posted September 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2006 I saw some information about a "flag stop" train ride out of Talkeetna that goes into the wildnerness to Hurricane. Has anyone taken this ride? Did you get off anywhere? How was the scenery? Would you recommend the ride for sightseeing? Did you take the train back or a float trip? Any other comments? Thanks... Chenega Posted September 4, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2006 It's a decent ride but the railroad uses the older self-propelled cars. Better to do the longer trip from Anchorage to Denali.

Better to do the longer trip from Anchorage to Denali. We've done the Anchorage to Denali train ride before (it was incredible) and will be driving only to Talkeetna this time and spending the night. Our plan is to do the McKinley Summit flight the night we get there, walk around Talkeetna the next day, and if the summit flight was cancelled, then try again. I was wondering if we should also do the train ride to Hurricane, or head on back to Anchorage. Thoughts?
