bulgargirl Posted September 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2006 Okay - sorry - I admit it, I smoke. I know it's horrible for me and I know I need to quit. But knowing that I need to do it and actually doing it seem to be two different things. So now that I got that out of the way, what areas can I smoke in on the Star? Or any of the ships in general? I really, really, really understand how non-smokers hate smoke and I don't want to be rude and light up somewhere that it's not allowed. All the posts on this appear to be old. So where can I smoke, for sure, where it's actually permitted (I'm not too interested in places where I can probably get away with it.) Thanks for any info! bulgargirl Posted September 5, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted September 5, 2006 okay - someone posted this SAME thing. Sorry - I tried to delete and couldn't figure out how. Oops.
bulgargirl Posted September 5, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 5, 2006 I am just stupid today! Is it monday? The other thread does not indicate where a person may smoke. Other than their room (unlikely for us - I'm not that bad) and the casino. Are there other areas where it is permitted by the cruiseline?

I do know you can smoke in your cabin. Basically I think you cannot smoke in dining rooms and show rooms. Other than that I think it is ok in the cabins, lounges???? and Casino?????? 2inTul Posted September 5, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2006 bulgargirl: You might want to take a look at this from the NCL website. It has a lot of useful information. http://www.ncl.com/more/fp_mi_w2n.htm#06 As for smoking, I know you can smoke in certan areas of the bars, in the casino and on the open decks. Hope this helps. JennCandi Posted September 5, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2006 I believe it is on the starboard side of the ship. They make it easy to tell, by putting ashtrays where you can smoke and non smoking signs where you can't.
newmexicoNita Posted September 5, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2006 Pretty much you have your answer: I beleive NCL as well as other lines are doing their best to address the smoking versus now smoking delema. Smoke in your cabin, balcony, casino, one side of the deck and certain areas in the lounges; non smoking: showrooms, restaurants and the opposite side of the deck as well as most areas within the lounges. NMNIta That works for me. I've pretty much cut back to almost never smoking except when I drink and an occasional one here and there. So as long as the bars have smoking areas, that's fine. I'd just hate to light up on deck and find out I was one of 'those people' smoking where it wasn't allowed! I'm ashamed of my bad habit for gosh sakes! Treven Posted September 6, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 6, 2006 You can smoke 5' outside of either Port or Starboard on any ship.
Cosmopolitan Posted September 6, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 6, 2006 On the Dawn & Jewel, outside on PORT side and that is where they will put the ashtrays. Port side of the pool area also. In the large lounges, generally PORT side also allows smoking. Some lounges are now not smoking. Some lounges not on the port side do allow smoking. Smoking allowed in the cabins and on balconies. They do have signs in the no-smoking areas.
bulgargirl Posted September 6, 2006 Author #13 Share Posted September 6, 2006 That helps clarify things a lot. The information Norwegian sent us wasn't very specific. But I wasn't expecting to be able to smoke outside at all, so that's not too bad!
