wangy26 Posted January 6, 2015 #2576 Share Posted January 6, 2015 I have been trying to get 2 rooms for 1 night pre-cruise (2/28/15). The regular rates all seem very high. I have not been successful to win bid on priceline. I saw the following one rated 3 star on hotwire: HOT RATE HOTEL Condado area 70% recommended 47% OFF $123 per night This hotel has free internet, pet friendly, near beach, fitness center, restaurant, business center, self service laundry. Do you have any idea what this hotel might be? Thanks very much for the help!

sgjanice Posted January 11, 2015 #2580 Share Posted January 11, 2015 I thought so too, but apparently it is the Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Hotel & Casino. Darn. I don't think Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Hotel & Casino has an indoor pool only outdoor.

Just as an FYI are you sure you are boarding at the old San Juan Pier and not the Pan Am Pier? I know that Celebrity and Royal board at Pan Am for sure and I think mainly the old San Juan pier is the ships just stopping for the day. You may still want to stay there, just wanted to make sure you know you may not be boarding there. If boarding at Pan Am it will be a taxi from Sheraton anyway. I'm super happy:D We stayed at La Concha last Nov, through Priceline as well, and it was a great place to stay. Just as an FYI, it wasn't well advertised, but there was free breakfast in the "bar" area in the lobby in the morning. We didn't see anything that said breakfast was included in our reservation, but when my husband went down to buy something, the workers pointed him there and said it was free. Unfortunately, you usually can't guarantee hotel. I would start with checking betterbidding.com to see where it fits and what other hotels are possible at that star range or higher. I think maybe old san juan is included withing the Conrad neighborhood in Priceline, so I don't know your chances. I have bid a couple times on Priceline and got La Concha and the Caribe Hilton. If you are happy with that hotel or the other possibilities if you bid that star level (remember you can get a higher star level), I usually check the price of the hotel to pay for it outright (I decide how much cheaper is worth the risk of bidding and potentially getting a different hotel before I set my bid price) and I check what that area and start level are going for on hotwire (I usually go about 15% lower than hotwire as a starting price for my bid). Good luck.

cruisintwinsmom Posted February 28, 2015 #2591 Share Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) I got La Concha through hotwire for $127/N for July. This is what was on the initial description: Condada, 4 star, $127 (retail $194), 95% recommended, Estimated Resort fee of $10/pp/n Amenities: Free Internet, Resort, Near beach, Casino, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness centerPool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking One thing I did notice, there was another hotel listed for Condada at $117/N, but its taxes and fees were twice as much as the La Concha listing (it also had a resort fee). sadie8 Posted March 1, 2015 #2592 Share Posted March 1, 2015 We stayed at the La Concha in January and loved it. The resort fee is based on the price you pay for the hotel. Hotwire also estimated ours to be $10 but it came to more than that - don't remember exactly but about $16 per person/per night.

I told my traveling partner that we could probably expect the fee to be more like $20/pp. ;) I was really happy to get the LaConcha because we will be going to a wedding reception there. cruiselife4me Posted March 31, 2015 #2597 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Silly Question: If you bid for a price, do they put you in the crappiest room they have? I'm appalled that all U.S. type hotels are over $250/night in San Juan. I wanted to stay the night before and night after but am wondering if it's best to just splurge on a 4.5 star for just one night? Love this thread...this is my 15th cruise but first out of SJU. Mary I don't think that I have gotten the crappiest room, but I have gotten less desirable rooms. For example, one hotel in FLL had a tower with renovated rooms and a wing with non-renovated rooms - we got the non-renovated room. It was still a good clean room and I would do it again. In SJU, I've gotten Caribe Hilton twice (2009 and 2011) and the room was good - I don't recall thinking that they put us in bad rooms. Although, I'm pretty sure we didn't have an oceanview. This year on hotwire for an upcoming trip, we got La Concha. (I'm going to a wedding and the reception is at the hotel so I wanted to be sure to get that specific hotel.) When I called them to request 2 doubles instead of a queen, they responded that it was not possible because I purchased a city view - I guess they are only king rooms. To splurge or not to splurge - only you can answer that ;) For me, if I can save $125, then I'm all for it - that will pay for tips or drinks or a shore excursion.... Happy Sailing!
