Will Ironman effect Kona shore excursions Thurs, 19 Oct 2006?

I tried to book a snorkeling trip on Kona for 19 Oct and was told the Ironman Triathelon was taking place so our ship might not even come near the island. I was booking excursions through the website Hawaiiactivities.com. Has anyone else heard this? Thanks!

We were in Kona in 2004 during the Ironman events, a few days before the actual race, and the biggest thing we noticed was a lot of extra people. Being there on the actual day of the race might be a different situation as they may close certain roads, beaches etc.

Have a great next cruise.

No cruise ships allowed in port on the day of the race. The swimmers are using the harbor, and the small beach right next to the tender pier is the water access point. The pier itself is a staging area for the bikes. Sorry your cruise is at this same time as I love Kona, but they will undoubtably go elsewhere on this cruise for that day in port.
