Panama Canal -- train or ferry?

Can somebody please help us make a decision? We're on Princess over Thanksgiving, and torn between the two options. Has anyone done them? Is one better than the other? I know they're expensive, but can't fathom going that far and not going to the Pacific side. Thank you in advance.:confused: :confused:

We took the train excursion and it was excellent. Booked the domed car, which sells out fast because there's only one. It's a few dollars more, but well worth it. The ride over to the Pacific side was very interesting and comfortable. Highly recommend it.

I did the ferry excursion on March 1st. If you really interested in the workings of the canal, this is a great excursion.

We've decided to take the ferry and go through all the locks. "Path Between the Seas" helped push us in that direction. Thank you. Silver:cool:

Hi Silver,

Please let me know about your excursion in Panama on the ferry. We hope to take a cruise there in 08 for our 20th anniversary.

We were on the Coral May 05 to Alaska, nice ship.

If you've never been through the Panama Canal and want to make the best pictures of the Canal and surroundings, the ferry is the way to go. You can smell the air, hear the nature calling you...it's the best experience, not to compare with a train sitting behind glass.
