Best ship/Western Itinerary

Hi all, I am planning our first family cruise and am overwhelmed with the info and choices! I was wondering which is the best ship for a family of 5 (kids ages 16, 5, and 3) and best Western itinerary. We are planning to sail in July 07. I am also looking into RC and would love opinions about that as well.

Thanks so much.

My vote would be for the Legend (out of Tampa). You may see that I am a little biased, since I have that booked for July 1st!

I loved the Legend - and have also sailed on the Miracle (out of Tampa, and also a Spirit class ship) on that itinerary!

Wow...we are booked on the TRIUMPH for the Western in April of 07 and have heard nothing but good things too!

For me personally I dont like when there are more than 3 stops in a 7 day period...as we do enjoy the sea days too!

But that is just something to think about...

GOOD LUCK! and Have fun!

Our itinerary is Ocho Rios (Jamaica) Grand Caymans and Cozumel.

Wow, lots of votes for the Valor. We were just on the Miracle out of Tampa--our best cruise of 5 total. We were with the Valor much of the time, we went to Cozumel instead of Roatan--the other stops are the same. I have been to Roatan and Cozumel a total of about 20 times, both are nice-it's a tossup. Almost all the trips have been for a week or so in each place.

I liked the layout of the smaller Miracle, Valor carries 3k+ passengers, Miracle 2k+. On Miracle for us it was up 1 deck to lobby, restaurant, shows, casino--or up to deck 9 for buffets, midship pools, etc. We were midships near the elevators.

The OP is looking for a cruise for July 07. After April 2007 the Miracle and Legend are switching home ports. The Legend will be in Tampa, and the Miracle will be in New York (summer 2007).

They are similar (Spirit class) vessels, and are BOTH our top choice (see our future cruises...)

I am in the processing of booking the Valor for the July 8th sailing..just deciding what type of cabin and what deck..but we choose the Valor bassed off of past reviews and the itinerary... but i'm sure you'll have a good time no matter what ship you choose..

We loved the Valor - while I like the sea days as much as the port days, my family prefers four ports on a seven day cruise. Belize and Roatan really exceeded my expectations! I knew I'd love Grand Cayman. When we took the Valor, we went to Cozumel (my first time there), not Costa Maya.
