Need a raised bed?

I have a lot of difficulty rising from a normal height bed. Since reading the suggestion on this site some time ago, I have called the cruise lines in advance and asked for an extra mattress (that will raise the bed about 5"). HAL was really helpful, and asked exactly how high I wanted the bed (Haven't had the cruise with them yet, but I was impressed with their interest). Celebrity has so far always accommodated us. Princess more difficult ... they insisted they had no system to accommodate the request, but would try if my travel agent sent them a fax (so we'll see).

Yesterday I called RCCL: Was I impressed! ... they offered to build a frame to raise the bed to whatever height I wanted. Pretty good (as long as they live up to their promise).

Thought I'd pass this info along for anyone else who is interested, and see if there are any other suggestions ...

F.Y.I. While on the Sun Princess this past July, I requested an extra mattress for my husband and they provided one quickly.
