Just off Mariner! Sept 17-24th

We went to Coco Cay. The seas weren't rough until about Wednesday, when we began to encounter higher swells due to Helene. There were no problems getting in to St. Maarten or St. Thomas either - the bays there were calm.

 

I don't think we experienced swells any higher than about 5-10 feet. I didn't see many whitecaps until Saturday, when we were probably out of the Caribbean and into the Atlantic.

I'm no expert, but apparently the ride was a bit rougher because of the direction the waves were hitting the ship in combination with the wind speed and direction. It seemed like we were rocking front and back, and not side to side. Because we were in an aft stateroom, our bed was situated in such a way that we rocked side to side - much like a cradle. That made sleeping easy. I think it was probably a lot more uncomfortable for those in regular cabins because they would be rocking head to toe.
