Sandi149 Posted September 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2006 Just wondering where do we put our luggage when we get on the ship if our cabin isn't ready yet? Do they still let you put it in there while the steward makes up the room? Thanks.
lvtotrvl1 Posted September 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2006 The porters will take your luggage at the pier and it will be delivered to your room as it is loaded on the ship. If your room is not ready it will still be delivered. I usually take a small carry on with things I may need right away.
Sandi149 Posted September 27, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 27, 2006 I'm going on a CTN and heard that there are no porters so we have to carry our luggage on ourselves.
nomoreknothead Posted September 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2006 I would not think they would let you carry everthing on board yourself. I would think it had to go thru the security check points before boarding and most luggage will not fit thru the regular scanners.
Sandi149 Posted September 27, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted September 27, 2006 According to what I have read on here about the CTN there are no porters and all luggage is carried on through the security scanning. I read a lot of posts that say that.
zaandam_2 Posted September 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2006 what is a CTN? cruise to nowhere? i'm sure they will still have porters.
Sandi149 Posted September 27, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted September 27, 2006 Yes it's a cruise to nowhere. Here is a quote from another post that I had about the cruise regarding the luggage. "Everything was the same except there was no cruise director. You brought all your luggage on and off the ship." That's not the first time I have seen someone say that there are no porters on a CTN. I will have to carry my luggage on and off the ship. So can I just put it in the cabin while the steward is making up the room?
gr81 Posted September 27, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2006 what is a CTN? cruise to nowhere? i'm sure they will still have porters. you are right CTN is cruise to nowhere. I never heard of no porters, but we have on all our Carnival cruises been allowed to drop whatever carryons we had at the room with no problems. Now on RCL we were not allowed to go to the room until they anounced it and just had to take our bags with us where ever we went (to the bar) until the rooms were ready. Sandi149 Posted September 27, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted September 27, 2006 It would be great if they do have porters, but from what I read from people who took the CTN on the Carnival Legend out of NY, there were no porters. I hope I'm at least able to drop the bags off in the cabin because having to carry them all over the ship will be a major pain.
Babie Posted September 27, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 27, 2006 It really should be a non-issue for a Cruise To Nowhere. Most of those are usually 3 days or shorter. So I would imagine only a small rolling suitcase and maybe a backpack would be enough. In that case, if the room isn't ready it wouldn't be too hard to take your stuff around with you. But chances are good that the room will be ready when you get onboard unless you're like me and show up at the pier really early lol.
Sandi149 Posted September 27, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted September 27, 2006 well it will be luggage for myself and my husband. Plus I will have a bag filled with my toiletries. Oh well.....guess I'm not going to stress over that. I'm just looking forward to going and having a good time.
