txcruisecat Posted September 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2006 We will be in Grand Cayman with our kids, 13 and 9 next summer. I want to go to Stingray City but worry that the kids might be scared after what happened to Steve Irwin. What are the best excursions for kids? Are there any that would allow us to do a combination? Also, we've never been to Grand Cayman. Would you recommend booking excursions through the cruise line (Carnival) or private operator? Thanks!!! vmom Posted September 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2006 First things that come to mind is stingray city and also a tour of the turtle farm. There are a couple of private companies that offer and excursion to both.
sunkey1 Posted September 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I was concerned too about our plans to do the stingray tour after the accident occured but we explained that what happened was a freak accident under entirely different circumstances than what we'll encounter in Grand Cayman. My kids (9 & 11) are both cool with it and still want to do it. I've been researching for a WHILE and the two companies I've heard the best things about consistently are Nativeways and Captain Marvins. I'm not sure if they also do the turtle farm or not, but I know they are well thought of for the stingray excursions.
