shermar96 Posted September 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I didn't know about this forum before my first cruise so I missed out on the charms at the ports that I stopped at. I now know that I can purchase them online!;) Do I get the bracelet itself from Carnival or a Diamond International store? Exactly how does it work? Can someone please help me out! I so want to start one of those bracelets!!!! Thanks, Sherry
crazycruzer68 Posted September 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2006 You should have recieved a coupon when you left the ship for a free bracelet, you also to have the option to buy a charm for $5. It's cute for young girls, but looks very cheap.
Ronath Posted September 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Diamonds International in Cozumel has charms for many of the different ports. I think you can buy them all at $5.00 each.

I so want to start one of those bracelets!!!! Thanks, Sherry Part of the fun is going to each of the DI places in each of the ports. But yes you can buy the entire bracelet online. This is much cheaper than paying $5 for each charm. I didn't think mine was all that cheap looking. Doesn't look very expensive, but it is all in the fun, :-). You get a coupon thru the ship and give it to the first DI store you go to. They will give you a bracelet and your first charm.
jack109 Posted September 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2006 I, too, had heard about these bracelets on CC before I left, but I was alittle confused about it once I got on ship. I thought that I could go to Diamond International on the ship, but what you have to do is go to the Smart Shopper or Super shopper and they will give you a coupon to take to Diamond International in whatever port you are in to get your free bracelet. You then have the option to purchase the first charm for 5.00 and then they give you a card to take to all the other ports to receive a free charm everytime thereafter. I personally liked the bracelet and will try to get all the rest of the charms available! The only thing I did not like was that the charm itself does not say anything about the island. One was flip flops, one was sun glasses and one was a sand dollar. I just marked on my card what charm I got at what island. I just hope I can remember the card every trip! rt63 Posted September 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2006 If you like the fun. maybeit's better to just buy the whole thing online. My wife and I wasted a few precious hours in port in Philipsburg before we started prioritizing our time. Freebies like this that sit in a drawer are not worth our time, when we could be doing something else... whether its having a beer, sitting on the beach, or sightseeing, time in port is quite limited. Next time we're in Sint Maarten we'll tackle things a bit differently - beach first, then shop for rum at a few good stores in port, then we'll see... Of course there are some ports where options are more limited... or it may be raining... Reminds me of the casino, I'd partake in the blackjack tournament if it was held sometime other than the peak sun & cerveza hours... but with a few thousand passengers there's always something to do for everyone. Not everyone needs bingo, and not everyone wants to lay out on deck. We have one of those bracelets, with the free charms from St Martin and Barbados. It's around somewhere... in a drawer. But our best memories were the 4x4 excursion on Barbados and the trek to Orient Beach!

I so want to start one of those bracelets!!!! Thanks, Sherry Sherry, I seem to have a spare DI bracelet in the packaging. I don't think I have any charms. I can't tell from your original post if you have charms and need the bracelet part or if you are trying to get the bracelet with all the charms. If you would like my plain bracelet, I would be glad to send it to you. You can send me your address at medicalnews at optonline dot net. If Sherry doesn't want it and someone else does, just email me.
BananaAnna Posted September 30, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2006 The bracelet and 20 charms can be ordered thru www.shopdi.com for $35 + shipping. Comes in silver tone or gold tone. My daughter and I received ours earlier this week. Yes, they're cute and yes, we'll wear them. But they definitely are a little chintzy. Actually, I like the bracelet a lot, but the charms are kind of uneven in color. Some areas had kind of an orange sheen.
jack109 Posted September 30, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2006 I dont know why anyone would want to buy this bracelet for 35.00 when you can get it for 5.00 and a little time. All you have to do is pop in DI in whatever port, hand them the card and they immediately hand you a charm and you are out the door. No sales pitch. Just heres your charm. I haven't worn my yet, but you can bet I will and I don't think it looks that cheap. Its a memonto from a great cruise and I know I will get compliments on it. BananaAnna Posted September 30, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Actually, it's $35 for the bracelet AND all of the 20 charms offered. Many of the charms were of places I'd already been, some were of places I'll never get to go. My daughter and I bought the bracelets/charms as a momento for each other -we're headed to the Bahamas in two weeks- so I know I'll treasure it always. shermar96 Posted September 30, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Many thanks for all the information about the bracelets & charms. I know that some may think it's a waste of time by collecting these, but if it's what I want to do (or others) than it's not! Cheaper & better than a beer!:D Don't tell DH that I said that! It's just something that I'll have and not my family or friends! TennisLover: I sent you an email it'll be from shermar@arkwest.com. Again, many thanks for all the great information!:) Sherry
