Question about foldable maps

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if they are still handing out the foldable maps with the ship's deck plans when you sign in and get your sail and pass card. We got one for the Explorer and Radiance a couple of years ago, but they had run out for our cruise on the Adventure last year. They were great to be able to find things on board without having to track down one of the larger maps by the elevators all the time. I'm hoping they haven't discontinued them because I'd love to get one when we get on the Freedom in a couple of weeks!

On both the Explorer and Grandeur this year the maps were available at the Guest Relations desk. Enjoy your cruise.

That is good to know. When we were on the Majesty, it was put in our stateroom, but on the Radiance, we never got one. I wished I had one but never thought of asking for one!

Thanks for the replies! I so hope they have them on the Freedom. They're so handy to have and I won't even be greedy . . . or on the other hand, maybe I'll just take all the ones I can find and greet people as they board and wish them a jolly good time as I hand them out. Now that would be something I've never done before. ;)

Most people can navigate the ship by the 2nd day without a map--I mean, the ships are large, but not THAT large!!!!

While at dinner, on about the 4th night or so, a woman sat down at our table and started to talk to one of the men as if she knew him. She was at the wrong table, wrong section. At first she insisted it was her table.

1 or 2 nights later we followed a man into the dining room and he went to sit down at our table. The waiter stopped him and directed him to his table in the next section. It was the ladies husband. :D

THEY need a map of the ship.

We each got one on the Vision last month as we were checking in.

the person checking us in slipped our passes into the end to show us the pocket.

I never really used it, but that's because I had memorized the deck plans before I left...hehehe

When we sailed on Voyager two years ago, they gave them out at registration along with our Seapasses. When we sailed on Explorer three months ago, they didn't give us any at registration, and when we specifically asked we were told that they didn't have them anymore. However, later that day, we happened to be passing the Purser's desk and saw a big bowl filled with them.

I find that my niece (12) and nephew (13) are a lot handier for directions than figuring out a map! :) It's amazing how quickly they memorize where everything on the ship is. I just grab one of them and have a personal escort! :D :D
