Ramada Plaza Inn JFK

Avoid this hotel if you can. Yuck!

The carpet, paint, and rooms need a serious over-haul. Service is practically non-existent. The bell-hop stood behind a podium the entire time and did absolutely nothing. The front desk employees are the unhappiest bunch I've ever encountered, and the restaurant staff weren't any better.

The elevators had yucky dripping down the walls. It was still there 9 days later. (Had booked 1 day pre-cruise and 1 day post-cruise. Non-refundable, or I would not have stayed there twice.)

The rooms were clean, but well worn. The bent metal bed frames were precariously propped up on little pieces of wood.

We discovered a cockroach in the bathroom on our post cruise night's stay. The water pressure in the shower was terrible and the vent above the shower was sooooo caked with muck, I hated to stand under it so I could rinse out my hair. I kept waiting for a cockroach to land on my head.

There isn't any place to eat close to the hotel and the small restaurant on the premises charges the prices of an upscale restaurant.

Forget about room service. They don't answer the phones. We walked down to the restaurant to order pizza. The charge for 2 small pizzas was 36 bucks. They included a 15% tip and a room service fee in the cost. Pretty funny considering we had to walk down there to order it.

The little souvenir/snack shop was the only good thing at the Ramada. I stocked up on chips, crackers, etc. They have a large variety of munchies. Hmmm, I wonder why?

And let's not forget the free airport shuttle. You have to hike across the airport, while dragging your luggage along, and take an airtrain to a pick-up spot.

If you're lucky, you may get a little help carrying your luggage on the bus. (You have to climb 3 large stairs to get in the bus.) There was a young passenger who assisted everyone. I thought he was an employee, but I was soon to find out that Ramada employees don't work that hard.

Oh, and to top everything off, we were charged for our room again which had already been pre-paid months prior.

Avoid the Ramada JFK!

Jill
