Capsu78 Posted October 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2006 On a mediterranean cruise do you do your onboard tipping in euros or dollars? dj Our tipping on the Carnival Liberty was just like every other item on our final billing- in US$. Rare Keith1010 Posted October 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2006 You tip on ship exactly the way you would on the cruise line regardless of where you sail to. In this case, US dollars are fine. Keith
Maryutah Posted February 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2007 What about tipping as you board the ship? Ours boards in Rome, are the folks who help with your bags Carnival employees or the dock employees, and would we tip in Euro's or Dollars? Thanks,
Rare HeinBloed Posted February 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2007 Depends to the shipping line: European Lines (like MSC or COSTA) which uses USD in Caribbean Sea all use EUR in Med Sea (6 EUR/day pp for tipping). American Lines (like NCL, Carnival, RCCL etc.) are using USD also on Med Sea cruises. But beware of some practises like X: They ask you if you would like to be charged in EUR or USD. If you choose EUR you will be double charged with transaction fees. Regards, HeinBloed

The baggage handlers will be people living in Italy thus Euro would be the preferred currency. Yet you should be aware that in Europe tipping is not a "must" as it is regarded in the US. Employees are paid proper wages.
