slots question

On our Inspiration cruise I did not venture into the casino....was too busy doing other things. This cruise on the fantasy I thought I'd try my luck at the slot machines. After reading the review of the fantasy I'm confused. Do you have to use your S&S card to play or can you just bring a roll of nickels? The review talked about scanning your card and playing that way. Also how about the .02 cent slots? If your home is anything like ours the pennies seem to multiply and never get spent. I'd love to just pop them into the slot machine. *grin* Please help me figure this out. Thanks

There were penny slots on the Destiny, even back in June 2005, and they had added more when we went back in April 2006. I don't remember putting coins in, but I do know that some of the machines paid out in nickels rather than pennies and if there were any cents left over you either had to play them out or add more money to use those credits.

One thing with using the S&S card in the machines, you can earn points based upon how much you play and if you reach a certain number of points you get cash back. There was no extra charge for doing this, it's just an incentive for you tp olay. I could have gotten $10 if I had know about this earlier in our cruise last year but I didn't find out until two or three days in. Check with the casino staff on your ship.

the reason you see SS cards in slot machines is not to draw money off of. You put your ss card in the machine and every time you play it add's points to your card. Now here is a good hint. If you play in the slot tournaments, you can also put your ss card in and get the points. A lot of people don't know that one. It is one point for every dollar spent. Dont forget to take your card out after you play. You can go up to the casino cage, and they will punch a hole in your card and give you and elastic cord, for your card. Im sure Carnival is keeping track of our casino play. Good Luck to you

I won $100 on the penny slots a few years ago on the Pride! I must have played all day on $20 and couldn't seem to lose, then all of a sudden I hit the jackpot! It was the first time I ever won that much....

On the Victory this week, there were .02 slots, nickel slots, quarter slots and dollar slots.

You can use your SS Card to draw money, at a 3% surcharge. Or you can insert bills. The nickel slots took nickels, the quarter slots took quarters, the dollar slots took dollars.

I tried the .02 slots and stuck a bill in it, not change. And I lost, so I don't know what it accepts for change or what it pays out in. There were only a few .02 slots and they were almost always in use.

We play the slots on every cruise, You CAN USE your S & S card to remove money from your account to put in the machine and play - we use this all the time because it is just as easy and feel better then carrying cash. You place your S & S card in the machine and you will be asked to enter a password, the instructions are on the machine, and you can tell the machine how much you want to play. It will automatically transfer the amount to the machine. Just like when you win you can send the money back to your S & S account. Just remember to have the card punched and lanyard attached on the first day of the cruise and don't leave the card behind. One other thing I play the $1 slots you have to spend quite a bit of money before you get points to use for free and believe me it isn't free

For years we've been saving coins in a large glass jug. We always use them for something special on our vacations. A few years ago we took our daughter and one of her friends on a fairly long road trip and we used our coins to rent a luxury van instead of driving our car. Last cruise we cashed in our coins and spent that money on excursions. Our daughter is older now and married and our next cruise we're taking her and her husband as their Christmas present. My husband has told her we'll give them the money from our coins to use on the trip. Over a year's time we usually save around $300!

I'd suggest turning them into cash before you go. Our grocery store has a change machine that you just dump the coins in and it spits bills out which is much easier than rolling them and taking them to the bank. Coins are just too heavy to carry around while traveling. You'll be surprised how quickly they add up!

Sorry but the last cruises I have been on, the penny slots did not accept pennies. They had bill acceptors instead. Now about the SS card. I have found it very useful to use the card as an ATM machine for the casino. I would put a $20.00 into the machine, and then place it into my newly created "Bank" that way anytime I won or lost I could either add the winnings to the account or deduct the amount from my bank, to play. This saved me from colecting the hundreds of nickels if I won. I saw so many people lugging buckets of coin over to the cashier and all I had to do was tote my card. I was able to withdraw any and all cash from the bank whenever the casino cahsier was open.

Being from Vegas we have a faster learning curve for these new gambling devices. Most casinos, here are exclusively Bill acceptor machines that print out a ticket when you win instead of the coins dropping.

I'm confused...LOL, Does this "bank" stay seperate from the amount on your S&S card?

Does it get charged the 3% that pulling cash from the S&S card does?

Do you have to be a Players club member to use it? Do you also get a Players card that you have to put in the machine?

I use a players type card at all the casinos we go to, (Missouri you have to),

so I'm familiar with how they work, but don't understand using the S&S card.

TIA

Confusion on this is easily solved.

SS card and players card are the SAME. The main difference is that the casino funds are seperate from your SS balance. And you need to cash it out before the end of the cruise. I will not show as a credit on your account through Guest services only at the Casino Cashier.

Your credit card info for your SS card can be used as the advance of funds to start up your bank. The SS card is what you use to set up the players bank on the machine. You don't have to get the credit card advance, but @ 3% versus the 15-25% the card company would charge you its a better rate to get your extra playing cash. You do not have to be in the players club to set up your players bank, deposit your winnings or withdraw your funds. However if you use the card every time you play, (Setting up bank or not) you will get points that will get you cash back. Every 1000 points gets you $10.00 back.

Back to the bank and cash advance...When you first go to the casino and place your card in to the slot on the machine. Follow the instructions on the cards that are everywhere. Basically you set up your account by entering your birthdate and then you are in the system & then you choose your pin for your new account. The other buttons allow you to get the advance from your credit card, deposit to your bank or withdraw from your bank. What I would do is I know how much I would budget for my cruise for gambling. (Vegans have to budget these things or they can get out of hand real quick) Then I would put that whole amount I was going to play...lets say $300.00 Then after I deposited the cash into the slot, got the credits for the deposit I would push the "To players Bank" button and all those credits would go into my "Bank" that was my play money. When I wanted to play I pushed "From Players bank" button, chose the amount I wanted to put into the machine, the credits would appear. When I won or was done, I would push "To players bank" and the credits would go back on the card.

So what would happen if you forgot to cash it out?

We were on the Glory last week and enjoyed being able to use our S & S card

instead of cashing out on every machine. We had envelopes under our door

telling us we had cash on our cards the last day. On the last night, our friends

got a call telling them they still had cash on their cards.

That makes me feel better. I'd hate to know I'd forgotten to cash out until too late and the casino workers got to split my money...not that I expect to have any left. :)

I just got off the Fantasy and you can use S/S or cash or coins, although I didn't see a place to put the pennies -- like others suggested, take them and get them converted ahead of time. The crew members who work in the casino will be glad to help you figure out how to use the S/S card and what to do with it. I won $50 in the slots :) Paid for my day in Nassau.

There were Penny slots on the Elation last year. Be warned though...GET THERE EARLY cause those machines go fast & people don't move from them very often. I dropped some pennies & somebody tried to get my machine before I could sit back down...lol:D
