Weather on Crossing?

We have only been on a crossing in March and wonder what we should expect for a November crossing. We will be on the Voyager Funchal to Ft Lauderdale.

difficult to say was on norwegian dawn from soton to new york a few yewars ago in december it was a bit choppy. lets hope its a calm one. have you posted on poll?i have starte several post on our cruise don't remember you. you live in florida then? i live in the u.k flying to madewira on 10th at 0715 staying the 2 fre nights at the palacio hotel are you at reids? iam still trying to get a bus booked after we get to fort lauderdale to go to key largo.is it far fromthe port to casino bus stop?

We're on the 2007 Grand Crossing which starts in Monte Carlo to Fort Lauderdale; There are a few CC'ers on that one. They take the southern route so hopefully it will be warmer and we will have some nap by the pool weather!

We're also on the Voyager from Madeira to Ft Lauderdale. We took the Voyager's transatlantic from Barcelona to Ft Lauderdale in November 2004. The weather was wonderful: Warm and sunny all the way from the Canaries to Florida. I spent a lot of time around the pool in my bathing suit. We're hoping for the same weather again this year.

But since we're having our first snow day tomorrow, (my principal just called - school is canceled already! Over 100,000 without electricity in the area!! And its only Oct. 13th!!!) I'm not holding my breath for stable weather anywhere! This is making packing a chore - have no idea about the weather - want to dress comfortably for the CB courses, but not too casual...2 formal nights, 2 pre cruise days in Funchal and then Thanksgiving week at my inlaws in Central FL - good grief!

The fall is usually a little more windy and choppy than the spring crossing, but the Voyager is a very stable ship (unless you're on a high deck, then you'll feel some motion). Unless you want to lay by the pool, the weather isn't much of a factor. Outdoor activities may or may not be feasible from day to day. For those staying in Funchal, expect either cool and sunny (good walking weather), windy and rainy (so bring an umbrella), or downright chilly. you just never know. Check the weather cruz cam a few days before you leave and you'll have the best idea of what to wear.

 

I plan in layers so I have alternatives based on the weather of the day. For CB, think comfortable, washable, and above all...closed toe shoes for safety in the kitchen. You won't get thrown out for wearing sandals, but the chef will probably chastize you in a kidding way.

the poll seems rto have gone, but this one seems much better. only 3 weeks to go for most of us. can we organise who is in which cbins or plan to meet on a certain place ands time.iam in 877 horizon suite. live in london,england fly on 10th to funchal for 2 days at the palacio.tickets sent out soon. my agent is useless rewgent tried to call them to get arrangement iam taking from miami not could not get a rerply so emailed me. iam staying in key largo until 22nd when i fly home/still wtg to get a cvancellation on the floridian bus or will have to hang about fll until 5pm.

We have heard that the Westbound crossings are nicer for two reasons. #1 shorter flight home, meaning you come home rested. #2 you pick up an extra hour almost everyday heading westbound, so more time to enjoy being pampered.

We, in the UK, believe the same, but for Eastbound crossings. :D :D :D

Yes, the almost nightly loss of an hour makes me feel cheated. I'm definitely not a morning person, so it makes a real difference for me.

 

As for the CB classes, go for casual comfort...don't worry about "appearance". One personal wore chef's pants and if I do the CB again I'll pick up a pair as well. I framed the chef's hat in a display frame and hung it beside the certificate in my ktichen. Reminds me every day of the fun we had in the class!
