crusingforfun Posted October 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2006 We'll be in Ft Lauderdale on 12/16 for 12/17 CP sailing. Heard about Winter Boat Parade in Ft. Lauderdale on 12/16. Looking for more info on the Parade. Have you've seen it in the past? Tickets are $18 p/p - is it worse it? Do you have to buy tickets or is there a place where you can view the parade for free? Bequia Posted October 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2006 Tickets are not necessary you can view it for free all along the intracoastal. I like watching from under the 17th Street causeway bridge (the start of the parade). It's a big deal here, a lot of fun, attracting thousands. ;) http://www.winterfestparade.com/
nycruiser2006 Posted October 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2006 I used to live in Florida until my late 20's and the Winter boat parade is so much fun. I highly recommend it if you can go.

And what would be the best route to get there? A while back, I posted about this parade and you mentioned we could also view it from the Grande. Which would you recommend for us? Thanks so very much. And what would be the best route to get there? You can see the bridge from your hotel, about a city block away. Just walk east. A while back, I posted about this parade and you mentioned we could also view it from the Grande. Which would you recommend for us? Thanks so very much. I've viewed it from the 17th St bridge, just under the bridge and from the grounds of the Marriott Marina now the Ft Lauderdale Grande. The Grande would be a great place to view it from but it gets crowded there as well. That's where the media sets up, the local celebrities and politicians hang out. ,,,,,,,,,,
Vmalcolm Posted October 24, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 24, 2006 We stumbled upon it before a cruise several years ago. Don't remember what hotel we stayed at...could have been the Renaissance...but they put us in a room about 6 or 8 floors up overlooking the intercoastal and we sat in our room and watched it. Had a great view! Valerie
