Cool Change:

I'm borrowing (yet again) from Candy the Zuider Princess. This is the Greenhouse Spa menu which is part of her CC signature:

http://home.g-net.net/%7Ecbrock/SpaMenuAug05.html

It's a sampling of what's available. Basically, the Greenhouse Spa offers a series of facial, massage, and body therapies, as well as services such as hair cuts and styling, hair coloring, pedicures, manicures, teeth whitening, and fitness classes. You can spend a small fortune and most of your time in there, and cover everything from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet.

I also have the complete Greenhouse Spa menu that I took off the Zaandam with me. It's available in the reception area of the spa. If you have a question about any particular service, please let me know, and I'll look it up for you. I don't have a scanner unfortunately. In answer to your question regarding Pilates on another thread, on our cruise you could purchase a Pilates "class pass" for $33 for a week. But I'm sorry, I don't know what a Pilates reformer is.:o

Is there any description on the body wraps? There isn't a description in the menu above.

Thanks!

I haven't been on my Maasdam cruise (8 days!!) yet so this information might be incorrect. However, Elemis runs the spa on HAL and also at my favorite Vegas casino/hotel. This is its website with spa menu & descriptions:http://www.aladdincasino.com/menus/MenuElemisSpa.pdf

Here's the Coconut & Milk description--I did this in Vegas a couple years ago:p

Exotic Coconut Rub and Milk Ritual Wrap or Float A ceremony of pure sensuality

to tantalize and delight! A traditional Balinese coconut recipe polishes the skin while the exotic body oil indulges your senses. Cleopatra was renowned for bathing in milk before her secret liaisons with Mark Anthony, so now it is your turn to bask in the ritual as warm Nourishing Milk Bath is smothered over your entire body. Indulge in this healing, comforting

opulence while cocooned in the sensory float bed or foil wrap. Then to indulge you in bliss unimaginable, we complete this luscious treatment with a Well-Being Massage.

The menu doesn't have descriptions, just a list and prices, but here are some body treatments:

Aromaspa Ocean Wrap $127 (U.S. dollars), Exotic Coconut Rub and Milk Ritual Wrap $129, Exotic Frangipani Body Nourish Wrap $129, Exotic Lime and Ginger Salt Glow $15, Lime and Salt Glow with the Greenhouse Well Being Back Massage $141, Total Glow Self Tanning Treatment $15. You can get any of the body wraps in conjunction with either a back massage or "Well Being" massage, at an additional price, of course.

OK, I went looking through my Zaandam cruise materials, and I did find the brochure from the Greenhouse Spa which describes the treatments. Gone Again, to answer your question, I believe you keep your underpants on during the spa therapies (except for the bath "rituals".). I have yet to find out, myself. We only used the spa for the Thermal Suite, which is quite delightful and soothing. (The Thermal Suite has warm ceramic tile beds, aromatherapy showers, two steam sauna rooms, and a hydrotherapy pool. Soothing music is played, water fountains tinkle, and you have a big window from which to view the ocean. There's also a private balcony just for the Thermal Suite patrons, with chairs and loungers. You wear your bathing suit in the Thermal Suite).

Muscleease Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap or Float: A warm seaweed mask containing a blend of Pine and Rosemary essential oils is applied to your body before you are cocooned, either in a comforting foil wrap or weightless in the unique dry float bed. Let your thoughts drift away while you enjoy a soothing face and scalp massage and let the active ingredients work to ease arthritis, fatigue, and muscle spasm.

Exotic Frangipani Body Nourish Wrap or Float: From the exotic shores of Tahiti, this Frangipani Monoi literally means "scented oil". Traditionally used by Polynesian women to protect their beautiful bodies and lustrous hair, Monoi oil will soothe, condition, and soften your skin.

Exotic Slipper Bath Rituals: Ancient Greek Physicians believed that a hot bath infused with aromatic oils was like medicine for the body. As you immerse yourself in one of our baths, you will feel stress and tension dissolve. Maybe the ancient Greeks were right. Choose from: Exotic Enriching Milk Bath, Detox Ocean Bath, Exotic Jasmine Flower Bath, or Warming Ocean Bath.

Exotic lime and Ginger Salt Glow: Warm oil is dripped luxuriously all over the body before our sublime Exotic ime and Ginger Salt Glow is applied. Your skin will be polished to perfection.

........and so on and so forth.

Thank you for the list, I am planning already. Does anyone know what Ionighermie is? Is it relaxing? and it really work? Why 3 treatments? Only one week before we sail, not enough time to get any pounds off. I plan to take a lot of stairs while sailing.

Here is the description of Ionithermie from the Greenhouse Spa brochure:

Ionithermie Cellulite Reduction Program: Created by a surgeon in France, Ionithermie is the only therapy available that helps to detoxify the body, reduce the appearance of cellulite, and offer substantial inch loss in a single session. Using both galvanic and faradic stimuli, products rich in sea life like Algae, Ivy, and Kelp, are propelled into the fatty areas of the body, normally the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and/or upper arms. The detoxifying properties of the ingredients help to drain away the fluids from the trapped fat cells and smooth away the puckered appearance, giving the body more definition.

Wow. That does sound like a lot of work. Galvanic and faradic stimuli, forsooth! One treatment costs $145, a course of three treatments costs $330. (I guess the course of 3 is in case it doesn't work the first time. ).

Karin, who will stick with the Thermal Suite:)
