Can anyone comment on the 3 or 3/12 hour taxi tour offered in Bermuda? It goes to the Haden Trust, lighthouse, Somerset bridge and a beach. Sounds like a pretty good tour for $49 pp. Hope some one out there has taken this tour.

39August;

We did not do the taxi tour you list but we did do one last November on the Voyager when we did a Taxi Tour outside of the ship, with VIP Taxi Services. We paid $35.50 per hour and that included up to 4 people for that price. We had him for 8 hours and we saw every inch of Bermuda. It was a great day. I am sure with the price of gas going up since then, it may be more now then what we paid .

We went to all the places you have listed and I think the price you have l for $49.00 to see all the places you have listed is a good price if it is just you and another person going, but if you have a group going of 4 or more, then it may be in your best interest to go with a private tour company that allows up to 4 people in their hour price and just split the bill among yourselves. For example, if you have 4 people going and say the rates now are $40.00 per hour for up to 4 people then your 3 1/2 hour tour is only going to cost you $140.00 rather then the $196.00 the other way.

With a private tour you can see whatever you want in those 3 1/2 hours, or see the same things that you have listed. I am not sure what the private taxi tours are charging now, but you can find out by going to

www.bermudayp.com and then go to taxi tours and it will bring up companies and you can email them and ask them their rates. Some have web sites. VIP Taxi Services is the one we used and he was great, but he does not have a web site. We emailed him and he got back to us. His name was Lloyd Smart.

In summary, $49.00 for those places and that time is great for one or two people, but if more then that going in your family, better to get a taxi tour. Heydon Trust is a very small cottage type house away from it all that was transformed into a very small church. The wooden cross in the yard with the bay behind it as a background, made a beautfiul view and great pictures. We were there perhaps 20 minutes or so. The smallest drawbridge (Somerset Bridge) was next, not really much else to see there, another 20 minutes or so, Gibbs Lighhouse was not open to go up as it was being worked on, but the gift shop was very reasonable and the views from even the grounds of the lighhouse were GREAT. We were there about 30-45 minutes. Then your beaches will be next to that, they will probably take you to Horsehoe Bay. Whatever you decide, a taxi tour is the best way to see the island, whether you take it with a private or with the ship. We have been to Bermuda several times and our best time there was with the taxi tour for the day. Have a great cruise and a wonderful time in Bermuda.
