bepsf Posted October 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2006 Here are some Shore Excursions that you won't see in any HAL brochures... "Swimming with the Sharks:* Swim in waters where you may see several Great White Sharks!* Note:* Don't feed the animals." "Mayan Temple Building:* Spend the day dragging large blocks of stone through the jungle!* Afterwards, enjoy a re-enactment of a ritual Mayan sacrificial ceremony." "Antarctic Beach Excursion: *Share an uncrowded beach with thousands of friendly penguins while enjoying the tanning benefits of the hole in the Ozone layer! * Sunscreen highly recommended." ;)
kakalina Posted October 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2006 You won't hear the desk say " You are going to see colorful and exotic natives, in colorful and exotic costume, doing colorful and exotic dances, with their colorful, exotic hands out for your money"
bruce-r Posted October 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2006 In Alaska, the "Black Bear Ride" where you actually ride on the bear didn't make the list either. Also, the "Hands On experience at the Salmon canning factory" didn't make it. BTW, Bepsf, The shark feeding dive in the Bahamas is popular with scuba divers. From the Stuart Coves Website: Your second dive is a shark feeding dive. Unlike ordinary dives - you will spend this dive kneeling on the sand bottom. Divers form a semi-circle in front of our professional shark feeder who will place a bait box. Your feeder utilizes this bait box and a pole spear to control the release of food which influences the sharks behavior. While novice shark divers may not notice it - during the shark feeding dives your feeder tries to keep the sharks in a "polite" feeding posture. However be warned - the sharks will come close - very close - but they are more interested in the bait than you!
