SEAWARD became NORWEGIAN SEA in NCL's re-naming scheme in 1998 and as of 2005 she became SUPERSTAR LIBRA with NCL's parent company Star Cruises.

She was not a favorite ship of mine but she did have her fans...

We were put on the new NCL Seaward I believe 21 years ago when a cruise ship we were supposed to take was "taken out" and it was glorious... White glove service, vegetables served french style...and it made me wonder why I had never wanted to cruise before.. We went back on the ship from NYC and the crew was as wonderful as I remember it.. of course the cabins were tiny and of course it was an old fashioned ship, small but with a wonderful big heart..still.. I made a comment to our room steward that the closet door was broken and just when we came back from breakfast there was the repair man fixing it.Cruising "aint what it used to be" and rock climbing walls, ice skating rinks and bowling alleys aren't my style, but to me I can look back on the NCL Sea/Seaward with very fond memories...

NCL Norwegian Sea was inaugurated in 1988 as the Seaward. When I cruised on her December 2003 I thought she was still a lovely ship. She must have been the pride of NCL in her youth. I would sail her again as the Superstar Libra if the opportunity arose.

Our last cruise was on the NCL Sea, Houston to Los Angeles through Panama Canal, her last sail before heading out to Mumbai, India, summer of 2005. A small, older ship but we had a wonderful 16-day trip. Not a good ship to do Freestyle but still elegant. Asian officers were on board receiving training. The morning we reached L.A. the whole casino was taken down. All the machines and equipment were shrink wrapped with their destinations written on. It was amazing that they were able to do that just overnight. It was sad to see that though, we didn't really want to leave the ship. Of course, you can imagine the kind of sales we had at the shops. Everything was half price, we would go and buy something several times everyday. Now we have all kinds of shirts, shorts, windbreakers, luggages with the Norwegian logos.
