Medical emergency on Jewel 10-7?

A friend was on Jewel on the Oct 7th sailing and said that one of the officers had to be airlifted off. Does anyone know about this and if he is okay? She said it was very serious and that the medics couldn't land but had to use the thing they drop down on a pulley. We do hope it turned out well for the gentleman.

I can't respond about the condition of the officer that was airlifted, but we have cruised on many RCL ships, it is standard operating procedure to airlift rather than land on the ship due to saftey reasons. The risk of a crash and the uncontrollable fire it would cause is the reason for airlifts only.

A client on that sailing told us about the same thing but he had no more information than you do.

We were on the following sailing and they had to get back to Boston as quickly as possible because a lady had fallen and needed attention. We arrived in port about 2am and they met her with an ambulance. I'm sure she was glad of that and no need for an airlift!

Best wishes to both of them.
