dorothyl Posted October 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2006 Has anyone went to Trunk Bay snorkeling on their own, meaning not a ship excursion? We would like to go snorkeling there and I was wondering if anyone had any tips? We are there on the Noordam Dec. 10th. Thanks.
GMoney Posted October 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2006 I am on Noordam a week after you and am going to St J on my own. I'm chartering a sailboat to get there, but here's the more common move: + Take a taxi from Crown Bay to Red Hook. + Catch the ferry at Red Hook over to St J + The ferry docks at Cruz Bay in St J. + Then taxi over to Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay The moves aren't hard, just make sure you know the ferry schedule to return. Leave time to get thru traffic back to the ship. You may be able to catch the ferry from Charlotte Amalie, which is closer than Red Hook. Try a Google search, or someone here may know. I'm more used to docking at Havensight, which is a lot closer to Red Hook. St J is worth the extra bit of time & trouble!
GMoney Posted October 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2006 Here's the ferry schedule from both Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie. Again, Charlotte A is closer to where Noordam docks. http://www.*****/general_usvi/interisland_ferry/#St.%20John%20Passenger%20Ferry:%20%20Red%20Hook%20to%20Cruz%20Bay
tootiesmom Posted October 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2006 Don't forget the entry fee into the Park at Trunk Bay..... It was minimal, around $5 per person.... very reasonable. We love Trunk Bay. Have snorkled there...beautiful. The Trunk Bay Park has bathrooms, showers/changing area, place to wash off feet and snorkle equipment, place to rent chairs, equipment, etc. and a food stand (kinda pricey). Wonderful place. tootiesmom
