spongerob Posted October 31, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2006 I'm interested in any experiences people have had with cruise-sponsored golf outings in Ireland and Scotland. Many courses require a registered handicap with a local club; is that necessary with a ship's tour? Also, any comments on tour costs would be appreciated. FinelyRetired Posted March 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2007 highlander2006: Thanks for posting the link. We're not golfers, but see other tour opportunities that might be appropriate for us. Martha
spongerob Posted March 13, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks Highlander. We'd about lost hope that we might be able to play during our cruise. We'll look into it. :)

The only course I have played in Scotland where I have been asked for a handicap certificate in the last 35 years is The Old Course St Andrews. Almost certain you will not be asked otherwise. That said, many of the 'big' names ie St Andrews, Carnoustie, Turnberry etc need booking well in advance

scottie99 Posted February 12, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2009 If anyone needs some suggestions for courses to play near any of the ports, let me know which ports you are calling at and I will try to help with suggesting some which are nearby.
