GMC Posted July 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2004 I have a junior suite booked on Splendour of the Seas in December. I see it is "formally" called a superior ocean view. Is the JS worth it or is it just another balcony room? Thanx
serene56 Posted July 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2004 You dont get any of the perks with a JS as you would other suites. IMHO--its a glorified Balcony. Whats the price difference from the JS compared to a regular balcony on the same deck?
critterchick Posted July 16, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2004 We always book the JS category, although if the difference is more than a couple of hundred, it's not really worth it (I was looking at a European cruise where the difference was $1200 pp - totally not worth it to me). On some older RCL ships, like Monarch, those are the only balcony rooms. I like having a tub in my bathroom. The rooms and balconies are usually larger, too, with a true sitting area w/couch in the rooms. On some ships you get a bathrobe (woohoo) if you're JS or higher; others only in true suites or Platinum/Diamond. -Jean
critterchick Posted July 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2004 PS: I don't recall the cabin number, but we were on Splendour last fall & got the aft JS on the port side - it was a fabulous room with a huge balcony & being able to look at the wake was wonderful! -J
