Car rental

Thinking about renting a car in St. Thomas. Anyone ever done this? Was it worth it and easy to get around. Also, what rental agencies are at the port.

Budget and Avis have offices in walking distance from the Havensight dock.

We did do this one time. Rented from Avis which is just across the street from Havensight, very easy walk.If I recall it was around $70.00 for a minivan.Reserved online prior to arriving.

 

Drove to Coral World/Coki Beach then spent the rest of the afternoon @ Magens Bay. Nice day.

 

Roads are narrow and winding and don't forget they drive "on the other side of the road". I would recommend it if you are very comfortable with driving. If possible I would get a smaller car to make it easier on the narrow roads. Remember thinking this while driving the minivan, but we had the kids so needed the room.

Budget and Avis don't have minivans on our day. Are there any others close to the pier?

Tri-Island Rental Car has an office in Havensight (340)776-2879. (I don't think they have cars there so you have to make reservations so the vechicle can be brought from their other location).

This is somewhat related...I didn't get why they drive on the left but drive left-hand drive vehicles.
