shopping in Costa Rica

We are down to our last couple of weeks before we cruise the canal. What are the good bargains in Costa Rica? Of course we know about coffee, but not of anything else.

We bought some beautiful pieces made of wood when we were in Costa Rica. They were inexpensive but very pretty.

We were in Jaco last Jan. and bought lots of locally produced and well made clothes ( shorts, shirts, hats, swim suits) at very low cost. Also wooden products such as folding child's rocking chair, hammocks and tree swings. Most pottery sold on the street is made in Nicaragua but is pretty and cheap.

I found the coffee good as well as a inlaid wooden box.

I bought mostly wooden items - a salad bowl set and puzzle boxes (as children's gifts.)

There is an open market (actually not really open) at the dock. They have wonderful wooden items, coffee and the basic fun souveniors. Other than that there really isn't much shopping. NMNita
