Hi Debbi- my husband and I are on Costa for 2nd time.

We are getting a Veranda cabin-1st time -hope we like it as we usually get cabins lower decks by choice. Got a deal so we grabbed it.

I really wanted the ports so ship didn't matter.

We leave on the 25th for a cruise on Carnival-Glory with several couples.

Can hardly wait-each cruise is like our first as it gets closer.

We don't know if anyone will be coming with us yet on this ship.

Costa gets alot of good and bad reviews. But we will make it good no matter what we do or where we go. Life is too short to sweat it.

Till we chat again and hopefully more will join us.Aloha

Welcome Gerry and Linda - the cocktails are right up our alley:D

Aloha - We are going on the Caribbean Princess on November 26, 2006 with 2 other couples (1-good friends, 1-sister and brother in law), then we will be on the Westerdam on 12/3/06 with my sister and brother in law. So we are really getting excited!!!

I think after this cruise we are going to head off to Disney for 3-4 days, haven't been there since the kids were young. Now it is time for us to go back and enjoy it ourselves...

Have a great day!

We saw the Magica in Port on both Sundays that we were there, took some pic's and hopefully I can have them up by the weekend.... I think the reason why we are not getting a lot of posting is because the weekend we set sail is the same weekend for the Superbowl... We had to get a hotel room a few miles away from the port this time... Airfare is very expensive, I was able to get a good one way fare on ATA out of Boston (89.00 pp).... We are staying in Orlando for 5 days after the cruise so it will be cheap to fly back on Jet Blue one way....

Sorry, I have been very busy...we sailed the Carnival-Glory 2 weeks ago and the following week we were very busy doing appts. and catching up.

Since we were so into cruise mode we booked a last minute quickie to go again on Jan. 6th.

Anyhow-welcome to all the new people.

We didn't know that that was Superbowl weekend when we booked....so we had to get a room in Naples for the night before. But thats ok -at least we are crusing :)

I keep hearing so many things about Costa..more negative than positive but we are gonna give her a chance again that why we booked it.

Out first experience was not too good - so I do hope it is indeed better.

It's just my husband and myself this trip -unless our travel patners decide to jump on board last minute.

Debi-D -we sailed the Westerdam before- we loved the ship. We really like the "DAM" ships anyhow-they are smaller. After this Costa trip we will sail again in the fall and be going back to the Holland ships or Celebrity ships. Prefer the service and size.

I will try to keep more of a watch on this post-so lets get it going and hopfully more will get on board.

Aloha

Aloha - enjoy your cruise this January, sometimes you just can not pass up those cruises. We were not suppose to be on this one coming up but got such a great deal we could let it go by.

We have decided to go on to Disney World for a week after this cruise. We booked a condo at the Marriott Palms, heard they were nice. Haven't been to Disney since the kids were small so this should be fun!

So where is everybody, I know that there has to be more people on this ship. I can't believe we will be leaving in 30 days for this trip. I am looking forward to cruising on Costa especially after the reviews I have been reading. Here are a few pictures I took of the ship when we were there in Dec.

DH and I are sailing back 2 backs on the Magica 01/28 and 02/04. This is our first Costa experience, and the reviews are certainly mixed, but my feeling is a bad day on a cruise beats a good day working any time - I expect to have a great time, no matter what :)

We're meeting up with friends on the ship as well -- we have aft veranda cabins booked -- love those verandas.

for us the countdown is 25 days to sail-away

What cabins are you in? Maybe we are next to each other.. we are in 7422.

CruiseFan - You must be really excited getting out of that snow. Are you leaving a day or two early just in case. Our weather up here on the Cape has been so great, today is was almost 60:eek: and they are saying tomorrow will be in the 60's:eek: Some of my spring plants are coming up!!! I am hoping the weather stays the same, it sure is saving on my heat bill. Maybe with all this money I am saving I can afford another cruise:D

oops - I forgot to update my profile. We are no longer in CO, we moved over a year ago to Tucson, AZ. so, we avoided the triple snow storms that have just hit Colorado this past couple of weeks - no shoveling for us. Although our weather here in Tucson has not been 'sun bathing' temps, at least we don't have snow :)

We are flying to FLL on Sat 1/27 spending the night at the Hampton Inn and then heading to the Magica for boarding as early as possible. Given that it's winter we always like to give ourselves a little extra travel time, just in case...

I just had our travel agent sign us up for Costa's unlimited beverages at lunch and dinner package that was discussed in a couple of other threads.

I'm hoping it is worthwhile.

We're both ready for some warm, sunny weather, and a few 'adult beverages'

:)

We are so excited, Feb., 4th is quickly approaching! Can't wait. We are also in a suite (#7298). Really looking forward to some much needed R & R and enjoying some adult beverages on the veranda. Still haven't figured out what to do in all of the ports though. Going to do a daysail in St. Thomas, but not sure of the other ports, especially La Romana. Any suggestions?

CruiseFan - my parents just moved from Camp Verde, AZ to Kingman (they need to be closer to my sister who lives in Henderson. At least the weather is better in AZ then CO.. I see you do a lot of B2B, we do to but we always jump ships. Makes it more interesting, we tend to play harder on the 1st cruise and just relax on the second. We just did our back to back last week November and the 1st week December and had a ball. We were on the Caribbean Princess 1st and then on the Westerdam.

Shore Excursions:cool: still out on that! San Juan we will be staying on the ship, that is our anniversary and we have been to San Juan a bunch of times. Grand Truk we just did in December so we are going to just hang out at Margaritaville:D St. Thomas, just there and not sure what yet. Maybe scuba diving maybe golf. La Romana, either Catalina Island or the Casa Del Mar... Then we have toga night, are any of you getting dressed up for that?

Yes, we do a lot of b2b's or 10 - 11 day cruises. For me, a 7 day cruise is too short. I need more time to 'decompress' than you get with a 7 day cruise. We generally look for ships doing alternating itineraries, so that we can just stay on the ship in the middle and relax. It is great to sit back and watch the comings/goings of everyone else. 11 or 12 days are more ideal timing wise, but there are not a lot of those around. These 2 sailings offered us a couple of islands we have not yet been to - Jamaica and Grand Turk

The only shore excursion that I have booked so far is in Jamaica for the first week (1/28/07) - San San Yacht/Dunns River Falls. I thought about the bioluminescence bay kayak trip in San Juan, but have heard the bus ride is 1.5 hours both ways - and the moon may be too bright when we are there to really get to see much, so am still tossing that one around. Like you, we have been to San Juan a number of times and have covered old san juan pretty much. We may get off and head to one of the casinos for a bit if we don't do the bay.

Hi Debi_D

Yes, we either do b2b's on ships doing alternating itineraries or we do 10 - 11 day cruises. 7 days is not enough time to really relax, when you figure that the day before the cruise is usually a travel day, and the last day of the cruise is spent getting ready to head home. I need a little more time than that to really feel like I had a vacation. Right now (since I am still working) one vacation a year is about it for us.

I only have one excursion booked so far and it is in Jamaica, week 1. I thought about the the bioluminescence bay kayak trip, but am afraid there may be too much moon that week to really get a good view of the micro organisims. We may just hop off the ship and go to one of the casinos for a few hours in San Juan -- we've been there a # of times already. Once we made dinner reservations at Ruth's Chris Steak House there in San Juan while on a Princess b2b, and we saw the Captain at that hotel casino :)

Well, well, well...nice to see we won't be the only ones on the Feb 4th Magica sailing! Posted a roll-call a couple of months ago, but had little response.

We've been to all the ports 'cept Grand Turk, and will likely just poke around, and see what we can book onshore. If anyone has suggestions, we'll be happy to "pair up" with another couple or more.

Is anyone willing to compile a list of CC folks and their cabin numbers, and set up a meet place? I am usually the one to do so, but work is interfering with my play time, as are choir rehearsals and out-of-country guests. Hubby and I, Harry and Charlene, are in a suite, cabin 7325, and I am celebrating a "round-number" birthday on 2/8. I'll let you guess which one when we meet! ;) If everone will just post their info again, in bold, please, I can do the list.

Looking forward to meeting you all, and enjoying some fun in the sun.

Charlene and Harry - Welcome to our thread I must say this is starting to get a little bit more active. I am use to Princess and HAL which they seem to be more active. I was wondering if it was because of the Superbowl that weekend that we all were going to have the ship to ourself:D Here are our cabin numbers:

Dale & Debi 7422 (celebrating our 25th on 2/6)

Mike & Mary Anne 7326 (celebrating anything)

We were in Grand Turk in December and did not have much that we were going to do. We just hop off the ship and went to the parking lot looking for a car to rent. This BIG guy said we could rent his for 80.00 for the day (there was 4 of us) No contract, no fuel charge, no back ground check - it was great I gave him the money he gave me the keys and said "stay on the left and we will see you around 4:00. Off we went, we had a ball we ended up at a tiny resort not far from the lighthouse where we laid back and snorkel, ate and drank for the afternoon. Here are some pictures of Grand Turk. Just click on the picture and it should take you my site.
